Blogtober - Day Twenty Five

Last evening as soon as it went dark there were fireworks popping and fizzing around and about for the celebration of Diwali.  This morning we have sunshine and have been for a local walk.  I have washing drying outside flapping in the breeze.  Wheelie bins were emptied early so we could fetch them in before our walk.  Today was the last collection of garden waste until next  Spring so the bin will be washed out and put away.

Below are some glorious Autumn Trees spotted on yesterday's walk.  Leaves crunching underfoot, fungi growing through the fallen leaves and a Walnut tree.

There was a partial eclipse of the sun today sometime between 10a.m. and noon.  We were out walking but didn't sense anything different. The winter sun seemed low as usual, I always struggle to see in winter sunlight. I remember a few years ago we saw a partial eclipse in Wales, the birds went quiet and the light faded slightly, we watched it with our backs to the sun, reflected through a hastily constructed pin hole camera made from cardboard.

Apparently it's world pasta day today.  I didn't know, did you?

  4. Those little mushrooms! I see them portrayed in artwork but never knew they were anything but artistic fancy. How cute they are. No pasta here today. It will be venison tenderloin, baked potatoes and green beans, all from our gardens and land.

    1. Good to be able to grow your own food and eat from local produce. Yes, they are real - Fly Agaric and yes they always appear in illustrations of fungi. No pasta today for us either:)

  5. Lovely autumn colours and Fly Agaric too :) I didn't know it was World Pasta day today either!
OH spotted when it was nearly past that it was a partial solar eclipse today. He has a special coated piece of glass so that you can look at it safely. Although I still only did a brief glimpse!!!! Years ago we went to Devon Kingsbridge to see the total eclipse. Drove over night and slept in the car. Quite an adventure for the children. Gosh it went so dark and all the birds stopped singing and started to fly to roost!

    1. It's eerie isn't it how the birds go quiet, I suppose it's like a false dusk for them. Your Devon adventure sounds wonderful and something children will always remember. We do eat pasta, in fact Paul makes lasagne. I bought him one of those hand roller machines ages ago and he does use it:)

  6. I didn't know about the pasta although we actually did have some for dinner! Mr CK was watching the partial eclipse on a website and started a make a pinhole camera but then the clouds rolled in . . . typical! Your autumn photos are gorgeous. 😊

    1. Ah, glad you had pasta on it's special day. The clouds always appear just at the wrong time don't they? That little village green was full of lovely autumnal delights:)

  7. Beautiful autumnal photos & love the fungi. We've noticed the red spotty toadstools always pop up in the same place each year. We've one that never fails to appear outside the corner house of our street. Ooh, didn't know about world pasta day, but had leftover pasta (cooked too much one night) mixed with an assortment of veg & bacon, so that is a coincidence. Take care & hugs.

    1. Apparently they love a birch tree nearby and the ones we spotted were all under a silver birch. Ha, you must have known somewhere that it was pasta day, your meal sounds lovely:)
