Blogtober - Day Twenty Eight

It's been a slow meandering day today after yesterday's little outing.  It was pouring with rain first thing and we were keeping our fingers crossed that it was going to clear later - it did.  I had to stay in for a prescription delivery so washed some towels which dried nicely outside this afternoon.  Paul completed some hedge trimming.  We still need to collect leaves for compost and this may get done over the weekend when I hope it will be less windy.

I've filled three bags with clothes, bags and shoes I no longer use or wear ready to take to a charity shop.  Little goals reached in a day go a long way to feeling that things have been achieved.  I'm tired now and not very inspired to write much more.

I've been looking through photos seeking inspiration and found one or two. Below is a seasonal photo taken a few years ago at Ford Green Hall.

I'm hoping we can visit again soon as it seems ages since our last visit.

This is the last photo I took of the hall.  I think the roof has been replaced over the last couple of years.

The Green Man was there too.

I'll be back tomorrow.

  1. It has been suggested that donations of clothes, blankets etc go to your local food bank because there are a lot of people in crisis with risings costs and food banks will now include clothes.Check locally.

  2. I got rid of a lot of clothes I never wore when we re-did our bedroom a few years back and the new wardrobe was smaller! Some I regret now I must admit especially the jumpers! We had so much stuff that the British Heart Foundation collected it all. But the suggestion of food banks in a previous comment is a good one. Ford Green Hall looks lovely and well worth another visit. Great to see the Green Man :)

    1. It sounds as if you had a really good clearout. My bag of clothes isn't too big a few paris of trousers and jeans and a few tops and all well worn but if they will help someone then I'll be pleased. Also shoes with heels that I can no longer wear. I did check the nearest local food bank which is Trussel Trust but they didn't mention clothes so I'll look further. I thought you would like the green man:)

  3. Ford Green Hall looks like an interesting building and probably furnished in a period style. After looking it up I should think it's near to you and I expect events are put on there. It was windy here today so more washing was hung out. The leaves are beginning to fall from the fig tree so they had to be swept up. I went out for a walk as planned.

    1. Yes, it is furnished in period style. It used to be a Stoke City Council Museum but it was taken over when threatened with closure by a group of people who wanted to keep it going and they have done great things there. They have festive and seasonal events too with people in costume. Wet here again this morning I hope like yesterday it will dry up enough for us to go for a walk:)

  4. Ooh, I like the look of Ford Green Hall & am sure it would be worth another visit on a nice day. I'm slowly clearing out a lot of "stuff" too, trying to hard to simplify as we get older. The green man looks scary! Take care & hugs.

    1. It is a lovely place and interesting to visit not far away either but we haven't been since before Covid and then most of this year I've been ill. I still have stuff that was my mother's as well as my own and have no idea what to do with everything. I can pass on my own things but not anyone else's as I feel responsible for it, I do need to let things go. The green man does look a bit scary but he was quite jovial as well as mysterious:)

    1. The hall is great inside and out. I can't find a link at the moment to my earlier post about it. The Green Man appears in old English folklore traditions, he's often found carved in churches too. I still need to sort out a lot more but it is a start:)
