Scenes from a Garden

Every year we try to visit the Dorothy Clive Garden which is just a few miles away from here on the Shropshire/Cheshire border.  We visited in the warmth of the sun earlier this week and were greeted by some of the most beautiful scenes.  Are you ready?  Let's go into the garden........

First we see the white borders

and  the mauve ones

but this is the part of the garden we are headed for because at this time of year it is nothing short of spectacular

Just a riot of colour

as far as the eye can see

The views up here over the surrounding countryside are wonderful too

Can anything be more spectacular than the quarry garden?  Well, perhaps it can!

The laburnum walk is pretty breathtaking too

Round to the tea rooms

 down to the pond

and we are back near the start again.

  1. Lovely colours in the garden and the views look good too. I get a 2 for 1 voucher for this place every year but we've still not visited!

    1. I'm sure you would enjoy it especially the views from the top of the quarry. I think you can only use the 2for1 vouchers later in the year. The ones we have had couldn't be used in May and June which is the time of their azelea and rhododendron seaason, we hadn't seen the garden at this time of year for a while so went without a 2for1 this year:)

    1. The colour is quite spectacular and you find yourself going round corners and saying 'Wow' a lot - it is hard to describe the warm enclosed feeling you get down in the quarry amongst the trees - it is very calming:)

  6. I've been wondering where I could find a laburnum walk not too far away. I'll have to check out the distance and see if it's workable.

The garden looks magnificent and I've not heard of it before. Thank you for showing it to us.

    1. It is a bit out of the way and you do need a car - the only bus I know that comes close, but still quite a walk along a busy road, is the Shrewsbury to Stoke-on-Trent bus which passes through Market Drayton:)
