1. Young Wrens - Mum and Dad are working so hard fetching food like grubs and long-legged crane flies and taking away fecal sacs and they sometimes seem quite fraught and twittery especially when cats are around, although they seem to tolerate us enough to allow Paul to take some great photos of the feeding process. Just one beak here but we've seen three and there may be more. We are watching closely because a couple of local cats (not ours) have started sitting underneath the bird house and if the little ones don't make it to the nearby shrub and drop to the floor they may be snapped up. I wish they would fledge soon so that we can see them safely on their way.
2. New blind in the bathroom - not much more to say really. We've needed one for ages. I just love the seaside theme which reminds me that in a few weeks time I'll be seeing the sea. Hurrah!
4. Reading in the Garden - dozing in the sunshine, flicking through the pages of a magazine, getting immersed in a good book, watching the birds flitting around betweeen the trees and shrubs, cold drink at my side, cat on my lap - lovely.
Link to Little Birdie where '52 weeks of Happy' started. Each week you find just four things that have made you happy to share.
I love your happy moments this week. It's lovely to watch birds come and go, feeding the young - I hope your wrens can fledge successfully before the cats get them! Your new blind is great and I'm pleased you'll be seeing the sea soon. I bought the same magazine this week but haven't started reading it yet. I've just been working on my happy post - I couldn't stick to only 4 things again and cow parsley is one of my happy things this week.
ReplyDeleteI think the cow parsley is at its best now. I've just flicked through the magazine and looked at the photos which are stunning as usual - I think it was the coastal scene on the front that tempted me to buy it:)
DeleteLovely happies this week. How fabulous to get photos of the wrens and watch all the comings and goings. x
ReplyDeletePaul has taken even more now - the parents are still feeding one in one out all day, they will be exhausted once their little ones have fledged:)
DeleteGreat happy moments Rosie, I have wren envy.
ReplyDeleteThey are such sweet little birds aren't they?:)
DeleteI love your blind, happy summery days are coming...they are promising! I see you also read Landscape, I love that magazine, so much information. Have a happy week. Chel x
ReplyDeleteI do hope we have more sunny days, it is a little dull today after all the lovely sunshine. Hope you have a happy week, too:)
DeleteHow lovely to see the wrens! Fledglings always seem so vulnerable, I hope they are OK. I've sat outside and read today for the first time in I can't remember how long. It's a treat!
ReplyDeleteSomehow sitting outside in the sun you are able to shut out all that needs doing and just enjoy the warmth and relaxation of it all:)
DeleteLovely happy things Rosie. I too hope that the little wrens keep safe. x
ReplyDeleteThanks, Simone - I hope that they keep safe too:)
DeleteLovely things... I can't believe that it's week 23 of the year! Jx
ReplyDeleteNearly half a year gone already - it is hard to believe:)
DeleteI love this time of year too. Everything in blossom, sun shining. Fingers crossed for your little wrens.
ReplyDeleteKathy x
It is one of the best times of year when everything seems fresh and new:)
DeleteA lovely photo diary of happy moments last week. It's an enjoyable time of the year especially when the sun shines. Hope the young wrens stay safe.
ReplyDeleteSomehow the sun makes things feel so much better and produces many happy moments:)
DeleteLots of bird activity here but no birds in a nestbox. How fab is that! I would be sat there all day mesmerised. Love the new blind too.
ReplyDeleteJune
We can see them through the conservatory window as we sit at the table. We put a nest box on the wall nearby and thought we may get blue tits but never thought of wrens:)
DeleteWonderful photo of the Wrens being fed. I hope they keep safe from the cats. I once had a nest here in the porch of the summer house and when the young fledged they flew straight inside. I had to encourage them all safely out. I love the Horse Chestnut candles, too - they were still flowering in early June this year, a real sign of how late everything is.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been a difficult job to get them all outside the summer house again and on their way:)
DeleteWrens! How special. LOVE the blinds. That magazine looks interesting. Is it? xxxx
ReplyDeleteIt is a very pretty magazine with fab photos, I don't buy it every issue as I think it is quite expensive, some of the articles on country life and traditions are fascinating:)
DeleteWhat a lovely week you had- The wrens are lovely- Such a cute little bird. I also love the new blind- very summery. Reading in the garden is my kinda thing too- But the magazine is a new one to me- is it any good? It looks a bit like 'coast' (Which I love)
ReplyDeletethe new blind makes me smile every time I go into the bathroom! As I said to Diane (above) it is a very pretty magazine with lovely photos and some decent articles about country ways and traditions - I don't buy every one because of the cost just if there is something inside that I'm particularly interested in:)
Deletehow lovely to capture these shots and how evocative. Loved the blind fabric! Love Helen, Darcy and Bingley xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks, nice to hear from you again. I must pop over to see what you have been up to:)
DeleteI'm loving no.4 :)
ReplyDeleteIt was nice whilst it lasted - hoping for more days like that this summer:)
