I'm never very good with New Year, I always find it quite a sad and reflective time so I just switch off, curl up with a good book or DVD perhaps drink a glass of wine and let it all happen. Last night the local fireworks became my lullaby; this morning I was woken about 6a.m. by the urban foxes calling to each other. Today the sun is out and the constant rain of yesterday has gone, for now. I think a long walk to revive the spirits and blow away the cobwebs is in order.
To mark the start of the New Year I decided to pick one photo for each month of last year. Choosing just one photo was quite a hard thing to do but I hope the ones I've chosen given an overall impression of the things we've seen and the places we've been in 2012
January to June
July to December
With my best wishes to you all for a happy, healthy and peaceful 2013 and a big thank you, too for all your kind comments on my last post
And a happy new year to you too Rosie..:-)

Happy New Year Rosie.
ReplyDeleteI found yesterday evening quite sad but this morning the sun is shinning here in Kent and for once the rain and wind have ceased. So here's to a Happy New Year in 2013 to you to and thanks for all the lovely places you have shared with us over the last twelve months. x
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely photos Rosie, I am especially enamoured by the meerkats!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm the same as you Rosie, I also ignored it this year. In fact usually I'd be taking decorations down but I'll keep them up a bit longer as they look so nice. All said and done its just a calendar an Italian made up. Thats my take on it!
ReplyDeleteSaying that new years resolutions makes me very busy job wise in January!
Happy New Year Rosie.
ReplyDeleteLovely collages for 2012. Sorry to read about your car accident - what a pain but at least no one was hurt, it could have been so much worse.
Isn't it lovely to see a bit of sun? Let's hope it's a good omen.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Rosie. Jx
Wonderful photos Rosie. I am looking forward to your days out in 2013 too!!! I am so happy to see the back of 2012. Yesterday the weater was dire once again but today the sun is shining and the sky is blue. Long may it continue! x
ReplyDeleteBlue Skies here for a change too Rosie - Happy New Year
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Rosie!
ReplyDeleteI am not one for reflecting on the past although I had a little ship board romance in November which is nice to remember.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! Happy New Year! x
ReplyDeleteI find, as Sir Roy Strong once said, that Christmas (and for me, New Year, merely by assocication) is Janus-faced, as we look back on old friends and family who are no longer with us, and forward to the future. I, too, tend to be reflective at this time of the year, but today's sunshine has put me in good spirits with which to greet a new year. Happy New Year from me in Devon!

Happy New Year Rosie! I confess I'm more inclined to look forwards rather than backwards in the case of the New Year, there are so many exciting things to do and places to go. I may not do or see all I'd like to but the possibilities are there:)
ReplyDeleteDear Rosie,
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
June
As I get older I appreciate the fact that I am still here to enjoy another year - I am not a great one for new year celebrations but this year we were invited to a party which I thoroughly enjoyed - trouble is, late nights and me don't get on, so today I felt like nothing on earth. Looking forward to lots more of your lovely posts. Best wishes for 2013
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful photos Rosie - it shows what a rich and full life you have :-) I always prefer a quiet and simple new years - peaceful and calm. Best wishes to you for a magical 2013 hon. Becks x
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a good year. I made a 'memories' book for K for Christmas, which works much the same as your 12 photos. I hadn't realised how much we packed in to 2012 until I did it.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year - and here's to a wonder-packed 2013.
Happy new year. What a lovely idea with the photos. I was hoping to stitch my years photos together on Pummelvision, but they have taken it down :( So maybe I will make a collage of my favourites too.
ReplyDeleteHere we are wishing you a most happy new year. What a lovely poignant post. Love Darcy, Bingley and Helen xxx
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, Rosie. I agree with you about New Year. I'm always happier once it's over & a new year has begun. In my case, probably because it's summer here which I don't enjoy & the week between Christmas & New Year seems like a limbo that I'm happy to get through & come out the other side. Best wishes for the coming year.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! Hope 2013 is good to you. Mx
