Just four little things that have made me happy or made me smile this week
Goldfinches in the tree and on the feeder close to the conservatory window where I sit with my morning coffee - if the window wasn't there I could almost touch them. There were four of them but I only managed to capture three in the photo.
On Thursday there was a little pile of post for me which plopped through the post box just as I was reading e-mails from a couple of friends, one of which made me laugh out loud a couple of times. By snail mail came a lovely gift from a blogging friend, a thoughtful card from another one and a long letter from an old school friend. You all read this blog so thank you once again!
A few days ago we ventured out to walk at Consall Nature Park and as we turned into one of the narrow lanes down into the village a hare shot across the road and then ran a little way along the side of the road before heading off into the trees and bushes at the side of the road. It was wonderful to see it as I love hares - hence my rather bad photo of our small collection of prints which hangs on the bedroom wall.
Danish political drama 'Borgen' back on TV for a second series and same as with 'The Killing' I'm hooked again!

It's always lovely to find nice surprises in the post, isn't it?!
ReplyDeleteHave a good start to your week!
x
It certainly is! Hope you have a good week too, Michela:)
DeleteThe goldfinches were very close! And I LOVE the hares pictures - and envious of you seeing one! Have a good week. x
ReplyDeleteThey were there again today, this time with a cap of snow on top of the feeder! It was rather wonderful to see a hare especially when you least expect it. Happy week to you too:)
DeleteI love your hare pictures. I have quite a few hare birthday cards and postcards but I've never managed to find anywhere to display them. I must work on that this year.
ReplyDeleteThe hare pictures in our frame are from cards that I bought in the Pavillion art gallery and shop at Buxton - they had larger framed prints too. The artist is Paul Tavernor:)
DeleteI really like hares too, love your prints. Lots of goldfinches here as well, they seem much friendlier than most birds and don't fly away when you are near them. Letters in the post are always good, I still write a lot of letters so also receive a lot of them too.
ReplyDeleteWe've noticed that the goldfinches stay put for ages once they start feeding and don't flitter in and out like the tits and sparrows:)
DeleteI am glad that I contributed to your week of happy Rosie! I would be thilled to see goldfinches in my garden and to see a hare in the real too.x
ReplyDeleteYou certainly did Simone, the lovely postcard is tucked into the mirror over the fireplace where I can see it:)
DeleteI wish I could catch the birds feeding - they always disappear when I fetch my camera!
ReplyDeleteMost of the time they disappear for me too but the Goldfinches always seem to stay on the feeders longer than the other birds:)
DeleteThe birds seem quite frantic on the feeders at the moment - they must be feeling the cold too.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly need to take in as much nourishment as possible to live through the long cold nights. They are eating us out of house and home at the moment, I topped up the feeders twice yesterday:)
DeleteYour goldfinches would make anyone smile. How lovely.
ReplyDeleteThey are very attractive birds, aren't they? They visit us regularly for sunflower hearts and nyger seed:)
DeleteI have heard one or two other people say how much they are enjoying Borgen - it seems to have passed me by - must try and see it on 'catch-up'.
ReplyDeleteI find it fascinating, elaine but I do enjoy all the foreign crime and political dramas they have on BBC4 especially the Scandinavian ones:)
DeleteA+
ReplyDelete:)
