Seeking Colour

The last few days have been dank, grey and misty, not cold as such but the still damp air seems to penetrate your bones and make you shiver anyway.

I was craving warmth, light and colour to get through the grey and dismal days and dark evenings. Warmth and light can be found quite easily at home but colour at this time of year is harder to come by.

We did eventually find some colour at the local garden centre.

 Orchids

 Cacti

 Primulas

 Cyclamen

Colourful pots and containers just waiting to be filled

For all I was seeking colour it was the flowers below which really caught my eye.

Beautiful white Hellebores called 'Verboom Beauty.'

  1. Helebores are so pretty, but I never see them for sale here. Right now it's Pansies or nothing.

    1. The white hellebores were lovely and they also had them in pink shades, loads of pansies and primulas too:)

  3. I always enjoy a visit to the Garden Centre at this time of year. Not only the colour but the seeds are always an inspiration. Beautiful pots.

    1. Oh, yes I love choosing seeds to plant later, the pots are really bright and cheerful aren't they?:)

  4. It has been such a dull week hasn't it! We've been in thick fog for three days! It's lifted a bit today but is still grey, damp and drizzly!

  5. I was at a local garden centre this afternoon and was looking at the hellebores, but they were 16 pounds a pot! I guess I'll make do with the one I have in the garden.

    1. They are expensive compared to the other plants. We used to have some in the garden but they disappeared, I love them but don't want to buy new ones:)

  6. I love hellebores a lot, even if their colour is quite subtle (I love strong vibrant colours for most other things). I think a visit to the garden centre is in order here, I need some brightness, too.

    1. A garden centre is a good place to find bright and cheerful plants. The hellebores are more muted in colour but lovely:)

  7. Your weather sounds very similar to ours. Like you, I spent yesterday shivering and unable to get warm due to the damp weather. As for colour, we don't have any, but it is lovely to see those flowers at your garden centre. I was never a fan of orchids until I got one and it flowered almost non-stop for two years! I don't have one now, but I would definitely consider buying another, if I had a good spot for it. Hope you are managing to keep warm. Marie x

    1. I've never had an orchid plant but my neighbours had one and theirs lasted a couple of years too. The colours were gorgeous. It is warmer here today and the sun came out this afternoon:)
