Five on Friday

Joining in this week with  Amy at Love Made my Home and Five on Friday.  Click on the link at the bottom of this post to find others who are joining in too.

We recently visited Lincoln to see the Castle and Cathedral but we also visited the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, all places we were familiar with from when we lived in Lincolnshire but we hadn't been to any of them for quite a while and certainly not to the Castle since the updating and refurbishment.  I will write a post later about the main parts of our visit but I thought for Five on Friday I would show you five of the room settings in the Museum.

 1. Bedroom

 2. Kitchen

 3. Parlour

 4. Post Office

 5.Co-op

All these photos were taken with my little camera, which is always in my bag but rarely used, so apologies about the quality.  I'd used up all my battery charge in my big camera at the Castle and Cathedral and left the spares in the car.

I'll pop along to visit your Five on Friday posts later today. Have a happy weekend everyone,

  3. That looks like a fabulous museum. One of my best friends is from Lincoln but I have never visited because she doesn't live there. I think we will have to put it on our list, maybe around Christmas time, I've heard the Christmas market is brilliant. Have a good weekend Rosie xxx

  4. It's years since I went to the Lincolnshire Life museum. I used to live just round the corner from it many, many years ago. It still looks good.

    1. Thanks Amy, although I love the grand rooms of the big houses, I'm sure I would have been living in one more like these and perhaps working in one of the shops or in service at the bigger house:)

  10. I'd love to pop into a time machine and experience days gone by. Places like these really make me smile. I haven't been to Lincoln for a while, and it is only down the road, so must make some time to see the refurbished castle again. Have a wonderful long weekend xx

  12. We didn't visit this museum but it looks like it would have been worth a trip. When you said you might be going to Lincoln before June in the card I didn't mean you meant so soon, hehe! Hope the castle tickets 'worked' and you got in free!

    1. We didn't think we would be going so soon either but we had the tickets, it was a nice day and a treat for our wedding anniversary so off we went. There were no problems with the tickets - we were allowed straight in to both places - thanks again, Louise:)

    1. It is a grand bed isn't it? I remember my grandma having an iron bedstead with a feather matress and a washstand too with bowl and jug:)

  14. Apart from the chamber pot under the bed, you could easily think that bedroom was a modern one.

  15. I love these places where you can step back into the past - so interesting to see how people lived - I wonder what people in the future would think of our houses.

    1. Yes, I wonder that too - what will remain in a few hundreds of years - things today seem less permanent than older buildings do to us today:)
