Joining in this week with Amy at Love Made my Home and Five on Friday. Click on the link at the bottom of this post to find others who are joining in too.
On Monday morning this week we decided to visit the Dorothy Clive Garden on the Staffordshire/Shropshire border and which is just a few miles away from us. The garden is always beautiful at this time of year. Below are photos of five of the features that are at their best at the moment.
The Pond
The Laburnum Arch
The Azalea Walk
The Quarry Garden
The lower flower borders
Not forgetting the tea rooms where the cherry scones were soft, warm and delicious........
......and the shop which is full of lovely garden related things.
Have a lovely weekend everyone

Good morning - I love the photo of the Laburnum arch - the way that it's actually its own frame rather than being trained up a pergola - and the contrast with the purple alliums in front is gorgeous - I would never have put purple and yellow together. Judy.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Judy - I love the yellow and purple together it is so striking isn't it? It is lovely to walk under the arch too:)
DeleteWhat a smashing garden, I must have a look at their website. I love the laburnum arch - it reminds me of our visit to Bodnant Gardens many years ago. Have fun :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks - it is a lovely garden not as big as Bodnant. I have put a link on my blog to their website:)
DeleteA beautiful garden, loved the floral arrangement in the cup/saucer at the tea room.
ReplyDeleteYes, the cup and saucer arrangements were lovely, one on each table, someone had spent a lot of time making them:)
DeleteLooks like an excellent outing - landscapes and cake. But I am now feeling guilty about the parlous state of my own garden! x
ReplyDeleteOh, I know - our lawns (well grass) need cutting but it is too wet at the moment to even contemplate getting the mower out. It is a lovely garden to visit:)
DeleteI am sure that garden is not far from where my Mother in Law lives....I must go and investigate. You picked a lovely time of year to visit. xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely garden, Lyn I'm sure you would love it - especially at this time of year. It is on the A51 between Newcastle-under-Lyme and Nantwich close to a village called Woore and not far from Bridgemere Garden World:)
DeleteLovely cheery post on a cold, wet and miserable day! Nice little touch with the tea cup! x
ReplyDeleteOh, it is cold and miserable here too today. I loved the teacup table decorations:)
DeleteYour morning at the Dorothy Clive Garden was a good way to start the week. The Quarry Garden looks especially tempting to wander through. It's a wonderful time of year for enjoying azaleas and rhododendrons in a landscaped setting.
ReplyDeleteWe thought we would set out early as it was a Bank Holiday and had the gardens to ourselves with just a few others for ages. It began to fill up as we stopped for our coffee. the Quarry part of the garden is wonderful at this time of year - a riot of colour:)
DeleteWow! What a gorgeous place. So green and lush yet filled with so many beautiful colourful blooms. And nothing makes my heart leap more than a waterfall. Thanks for sharing!

Oh, yes the waterfall in the centre of the quarry garden is wonderful and so pretty at this time of year:)
DeleteVery pretty! I love natural arches. Have a great weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tammy and thanks for visiting - happy weekend to you too:)
DeleteSuch a beautiful garden. I really enjoy 'visiting' different gardens in blogland. A tearoom is always a positive. X
ReplyDeleteDon't you see some wonderful places in blogland - so many places to visit if it were possible. I do love to stop for tea or coffee during a visit:)
DeleteOh gosh, how beautiful it all is!!!! It really is stunning isn't it. Such beautiful flowers and colours and places. Really lovely!!! That is a lovely sign too isn't it, a great reminder for us all! Thank you so much as always for joining in. I hope that you have a great weekend. xx
ReplyDeleteBefore we lived here we used to live not far from the gardens and had a yearly pass so would go quite often and just sit with a coffee and look at the view. We didn't have a garden then so this made up for it:)
DeleteSome parts of the garden have come on a lot since I visited in April. The laburnum arch was completely bare then.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes things do all come together so quickly once May arrives don't they? It is a lovely garden though isn't it and well worth a visit in all seasons:)
DeleteIt looks great! I've never been. Hope you have a lovely weekend too.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely garden Louise - with some wild areas too:)
DeleteOh my word, what a beautiful garden! I love the arch and the azaleas - just gorgeous! I also love the pond, I took pictures of one last week and when I got home I realised just how lovely it had been. Thank you for sharing Rosie, have a lovely weekend x
ReplyDeleteYes, the arch and azaleas are at their best at the moment and the pond was buzzing with birds catching insects to feed their young - even robins were grazing there:)
DeleteI enjoyed the stroll through the gardens. You enjoy your week end.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jean, glad you enjoyed the visit:)
DeleteI love gardens and this garden is so beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing such lovely photos of your visit. My best to you.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your virtual visit to the gardens:)
DeleteOh wow what a beautiful garden it looks just like my kind of place and the tea rooms are an added bonus I can just taste those cherry scones I bet they were yummy. I'm visiting some gardens myself today and the sun is actually shinning! Have a lovely weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope you enjoy you garden visit and that the sun stays out for you, happy days:)
DeleteWhat a lovely garden - and cherry scones, yum.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely garden. the cherry scones were huge - we could have shared one and it would have been quite enough, I didn't need any lunch:)
DeleteWhat a beautiful garden! The Arch is especially pretty.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? The colour contrast of the yellow and purple is stunning and it is so lovely to walk under there:)
DeleteHi Rosie, it's very nice to meet you. I'm visiting from Amy's Five on Friday and am so happy that I did pop over! What a lovely garden to visit!!! I live in very rural New Hampshire, USA so formal gardens are not too common. I would have to drive to Boston, which is 2.5 hours away! So, I pacify myself with local gardening and the wildflowers that grow abundantly almost everywhere. Looking forward to future visits and chats...
ReplyDeleteHugs for now from across the pond,
Beth P
