Five on Friday

Joining in this week with  Amy at Love Made my Home and Five on Friday.  Click on the link at the bottom of this post to find others who are joining in too.

On Monday morning this week we decided to visit the Dorothy Clive Garden on the Staffordshire/Shropshire border and which is just a few miles away from us.  The garden is always beautiful at this time of year.  Below are photos of five of the features that are at their best at the moment.

 The Pond

The Laburnum Arch

 The Azalea Walk

 The Quarry Garden

 The lower flower borders

Not forgetting the tea rooms where  the cherry scones were soft, warm and delicious........

......and the shop which is full of lovely garden related things.

Have a lovely weekend everyone

  1. Good morning - I love the photo of the Laburnum arch - the way that it's actually its own frame rather than being trained up a pergola - and the contrast with the purple alliums in front is gorgeous - I would never have put purple and yellow together. Judy.

  4. Looks like an excellent outing - landscapes and cake. But I am now feeling guilty about the parlous state of my own garden! x

    1. Oh, I know - our lawns (well grass) need cutting but it is too wet at the moment to even contemplate getting the mower out. It is a lovely garden to visit:)

    1. It's a lovely garden, Lyn I'm sure you would love it - especially at this time of year. It is on the A51 between Newcastle-under-Lyme and Nantwich close to a village called Woore and not far from Bridgemere Garden World:)

  7. Your morning at the Dorothy Clive Garden was a good way to start the week. The Quarry Garden looks especially tempting to wander through. It's a wonderful time of year for enjoying azaleas and rhododendrons in a landscaped setting.

    1. We thought we would set out early as it was a Bank Holiday and had the gardens to ourselves with just a few others for ages. It began to fill up as we stopped for our coffee. the Quarry part of the garden is wonderful at this time of year - a riot of colour:)

    1. Before we lived here we used to live not far from the gardens and had a yearly pass so would go quite often and just sit with a coffee and look at the view. We didn't have a garden then so this made up for it:)

  12. Some parts of the garden have come on a lot since I visited in April. The laburnum arch was completely bare then.

  20. Hi Rosie, it's very nice to meet you. I'm visiting from Amy's Five on Friday and am so happy that I did pop over! What a lovely garden to visit!!! I live in very rural New Hampshire, USA so formal gardens are not too common. I would have to drive to Boston, which is 2.5 hours away! So, I pacify myself with local gardening and the wildflowers that grow abundantly almost everywhere. Looking forward to future visits and chats...
Hugs for now from across the pond,
