Tulips, Blossom and a few Eggs

It's Tulip time at Trentham Gardens.

In beds and in pots all over the formal garden.

So many colours and varieties

These were so bright and cheerful in the sunshine

Although the oranges and yellows are so cheerful I think my favourites were the pink and purple ones.

Blossom time too.

It was a gorgeous Spring day.

Walking around we spotted eggs from the Easter weekend.  I'm sure we didn't see them all.  Below are the ones we found.

I think there was a trail for children to follow with an Easter Egg prize at the end.

As we left the gardens I spotted the display above and took a photo.  A delighted member of staff came towards me and said that she was so glad I'd stopped as she had only just put the display out and really appreciated that someone had noticed and liked them.  I may try this at home later in the year with flowers from our garden.

  2. That was a great post, Rosie. You captured a fine array of colourful tulips, all shapes and sizes plus the display using different height vases was a lovely idea, something a bit different. Aren't the eggs fun too! 😊

  3. Love the tulips (all flowers really) & what funky large eggs. Not been to our tulip display gardens since before Covid, so may make a date this year. Take care & hugs.

    1. I bet the children had great fun finding the eggs. When I worked in South Lincolnshire in the 1980s there were fields of tulips all around but these gradually disappeared as farming and the economy changed. By the mid 90s there were very few and the famous Flower Parade in the town I lived and worked in came to an end:)

  4. I love tulips though I never grow any as I always feel cheated when they die away so quickly. You certainly found some beauties.

    1. We planted a huge pot with a mixed variety late last year and they have all bloomed at different times, red first now yellow, for some reason something (perhaps a badger) nipped the heads off the pink ones so as it turned out we didn't get the 'mixed' colours in the pot:)

    1. I bet children loved the egg trail. It's strange to think of the eggs and tulips in the garden and beavers in the lake. We haven't seen beavers yet except on the cameras on the garden facebook page nibbling the raw vegetables put out for them on one of the islands. You too have a good weekend:)

  6. The orange and yellow tulips would be perfect in my colour themed front garden but the pink ones are lovely too. Those eggs are fabulous and must have been fun for both adults and children to find. Have a great week Rosie x
