Mallards take a family stroll

We walked around the lake and then sat and ate sandwiches for lunch before heading home.  We had to sit in the car overlooking the lake as it was very windy.

The River Dove flows by the lake.

We called at the lake after visiting Cheadle and the Denstone Farm shop.  I'll write more of those in a later post.  I also have to tell you about Sunday's carnival in our little town.

All for now.

    1. The little family were great to see walking from the bridge and down into the lake, there were eight little ducklings all together:)

  3. What a bevy of beauties. I'd not realised that there were so many different ducks, though I suppose we see our mainly Aussie water fowl, with a few overseas ring-ins. I enjoyed seeing these & learning a few new names. Do they make those big diggers in that JCB building? Take care & hugs.

    1. Some of the ducks and geese aren't native but migrate here there is always something new to see. Yes, they make those big yellow diggers there and and two other factories close by:)

    1. I like geese too, it's the shape of them and the noise when they fly over. Greylag are my favourites:)

    1. I was surprised at how many different birds there were, it is a lovely walk. The staff have a lovely area to have lunchtime walks and it's open for everyone to enjoy. The farm shop is gorgeous but very expensive:)

  6. I love all the photos but especially the Egyptian goose-just look at those pink stocking legs! The female hooded Merganser looks fantastic with her feathered hat too. Thank you Rosie for sharing.

    1. I loved those little Mergansers and even though the female wasn't as colourful as the male she definitely had the best head of feathers:)

  8. Enjoyed seeing your water bird photos , that's quite a selection! I've been a bit rubbish at following and commenting on non wordpress blogs recently. I used to follow you and others on bloglovin , but my app came down with a virus, so I don't have it on my phone anymore. Anyway thought of you when I saw that Trentham gardens in Staffordshire have just got some beavers on their estate, in the lake there. They would also make for some fantastic photos. X

    1. Thank you shazza, good to see you again, I've been a bit tardy in commenting too. We've seen all the extra security, fences gates etc, brought in to contain the beavers and I've watched a little film on facebook of the family being placed on one of the islands, we've only been once since they were settled there but haven't seen them yet. It would be lovely to see them but I guess they come out when everyone goes home:)
