The Flags are Out

I love it when the Yellow Flag Irises are in flower around the pond.

They are so bright and cheerful.

Meanwhile on our local walk yesterday on Berryhill Fields the May was definitely out.

Hawthorne Blossom

I'm running out of things to say so I'm going to search the archives and perhaps revisit some places I've  taken you to before.  I hope that will be okay. Stay safe everyone.

  1. Love the iris & think I may have to put some near our pond, which we want to redo soon. I'm sure your hawthorn has way more blossom than we see in our hedges over here. I'm also running out of oomph at the moment, but don't really want to give up on my blog. I get an idea, then sort of run out of puff. Must be these strange times. Take care, stay safe & huggles.

    1. Thank you Susan, the flags really need thinning out as there are too many in the pond. The hawthorne has been spectacular this year. I've drafted so many posts that I can't be bothered to finish, the lockdown doesn't help. You too take care and stay safe:)

  2. Stop. Please. THIS post is perfect, as it is! We do not need big, long, visits posts. Really. -smile-

Just frequent "bits", about what is happening in your life... In your yard... Etc.

Even something you are looking forward to, when this Wuhan Virus has stopped being a world scourge.

    Just little posts, are fine.

    Please....

    Gentle hugs,

    1. Thank you WoW. they certainly won't be long posts with lots of words just photos of places I've loved to visit and hope to visit again. I will also write about the this and thats of daily life too:)

  3. "I hope that will be ok"

Not necessary, please. Like I just said, just frequent little posts. New flowers, wilting flowers, night-time film from your back yard, showing animals at night, a new book, something you are looking forward to, any little thing.

No need for long posts, of past visits. No need for "big stuff" in Pretty Blot Land. Just staying in touch, during this horrrrrible time.

    Please.....

    Gentle hugs,
    ✨🌼✨🌼✨🌼✨

  4. I saw lots of flags in the streams and ditches when I went out this morning, most of our Hawthorn is now past its best though. I'm also having difficulties finding things to blog about, hence the rather irregular postings lately.

    1. Thank you John, I think the yellow flags look better in the wild than in gardens. It is hard to find things to write about but nature usually comes up trumps somehow:)

  5. Lovely photos Rosie - it is so good to see your yellow flags. Well in advance or ours although we don't have as many these days as OH dug up the bog garden and replanted them which they didn't seem to like much! The hawthorn is just stunning. I saw a lot in flower about 10 days ago when I took the car for one of its occasional runs locally.

It would be lovely to revisit some places you have been to in the past but I love your blog whatever you write about :) I have the same problem of knowing what to blog about and my posts have become so samey as I don't even go for a local walk! Still trying to think of somewhere localish in the country I can go where it won't be busy and pluck up the courage to actually go!!

    Stay safe and well.

    1. Thank you RR. Last week there was just a faint yellow at the tips of the iris, early this week the first flowers appeared now they are all out or nearly out. The roses are blooming too - averything seems to have bloomed at the same time. I hope you can find somewhere quiet to walk soon. I may look at a few of the Welsh posts from a few years back and pull out a few photos from them also some gardens too:)

    1. Thank you Sharon, our flags seemed to come out over one week, we have too many really and they will probably be split later. The hawthorne has been exceptional this year:)

  7. Aren't they a bright ray of sunlight, wonderful and all that blossom too. I've noticed a lot of people are always looking at my old blog posts from way back when and they don't seem to mind them being out of date so I'm certain they'd enjoy yours as well, I definitely would. 😊

    1. Thank you Karen, they are so cheerful. I have one blog post that people go to and leave comments many years after I wrote about an old house as it later became a childrens' home and they are all sharing their memories on there, some good and some bad so I just leave them to it:)

  8. Lovely photos! I've noticed so much hawthorn here over the last week or so, it's all happening at the moment outdoors!

    1. Thank you Louise, the hawthorne has been lovely this year. Nature seems at its best this year, or is it because we have the time to take more notice of it?:)

  9. Your yellow flag irises are so cheery. I would like to have a little pond in our garden as water plants look attractive and wildlife such as dragonflies are attracted there, but we haven't got the room. Hawthorns are such a welcome sight during this month. I always enjoy what you write about Rosie.

    1. Thank you Linda, we inherited the pond when we bought the house, it has water lillies and irises which have been there all the time. The water lillies don't flower every year. Dragonflies seem to like our pond although we don't have many if any frogs anymore:)

  10. The Iris are cheering - and hawthorne always a pleasure to see (though blackthorn is really my favourite blossom). Hope you feel inspired soon. Looking at old photos may give you new ideas.
