A Park in Winter

Sorry I haven't been around much over the last couple of weeks.  I have a problem with one of my eyes and the nerves in my head and face which makes it difficult for me to be on the laptop for very long.  I've tried to leave short comments on your blog posts when I could but writing a post myself was taking too long and making my eye sore. Consequently I have lots of draft posts which I started to write but hadn't the heart or energy to complete and publish, perhaps they will be edited and published later.

This morning before the  wind, hail and snow set in we went down into town to collect a book I'd had reserved at the library.  The sun came out for a while so we had a walk in the park before returning home.

I always have a little camera in my bag so I took a few photos.

Looking out of the windows at the snowflakes drifting daintily then whirling and dancing in the strong breeze its time to settle down with a warm drink and the book I collected earlier which is the latest Chief Inspector Gamache mystery by Louise Penny.

Tomorrow is the 1st of March, so don't forget to say 'White Rabbits' before you say anything else in the morning. When we were children we used to shout 'White Rabbits' as soon as we woke, even before we got out of bed.  Rabbits always remind me of Spring which I hope is just around the corner.

    1. Thank you Barbara, the squirrels in the park are very friendly as they get fed by the visitors. Hope you managed to get 'White Rabbits' in first, we only ever used to say it on 1st March each year:)

    1. Thank you Sandy, it's been windy overnight but the sun is out today. Eye still bothersome if I spend too much time on the computer. Spring, I'm sure, is just around the corner:)

  3. I am so sorry to hear about the problems with your eye and face - I do hope you feel better soon. It was lovely to see the photos of your walk through the park - especially the trees. I do love trees in winter when you can see so much detail in the bark and shape and structure.

I will try and remember "White Rabbits" - I usually remember half way through the morning! Here's hoping for Spring soon too - feeling so fed up with all the rain and wind.

Take care Rosie and hope you feel a bit better soon.

    1. Thank you RR, the eye soreness and face tingling seems to be connected to the upper trigeminal nerve so an infection there perhaps, by the time I get to see a doctor it will be gone so I will go and have an eye test to make sure it is nothing else. After all that I forgot 'white rabbits':)

    2. I do hope you feel better soon - very difficult here to get a doctor's appointment. You can't book in advance but can only ring up on the day along with 100's of others :( I remembered White Rabbits earlier this month but I don't think it was the first thing I said! Looking forward to the NG book :)

  8. Sorry about your issues, but glad they have left...

Lots and lots of water left, there. But lots of green grass tooooo... It has a spring like vibe. -smile- Unlike here, with ice/snow/wind.

It's been some time since I read these books. I have not finished with them, even before this latest one.

Today got a "unique" one out of library. -smile- "Things In Jars" "In the dark underbelly of Victorian London, a formidable female sleuth is pulled into the macabre world of fanatical anatomists and crooked surgeons while investigating the kidnapping of an extraordinary ..." Now that sounds as if it will take my mind off of all the bad news of the world!!!!!! LOL

    1. Thank you WoW, the ground is still very wet and unable to drain hopefully things will dry out eventually. Amongst all the water there were a few blossom trees. Goodness your book sounds intriguing and yes a good escape from the news of the world:)

  9. Bother I forgot about the white rabbits! I'm so sorry to hear about your eye, hopefully the doctor is able to help you in some way, there's nothing worse than eye issues. It looks a bit wet still where you are but great to see the sun for once. I'm sure you'll enjoy that book, good old Louise Penny. 😊

  10. I forgot to say white rabbits! Mind you, I said that on 1st February and had an awful month so don't know that it is particularly lucky! I am sorry to hear that you have been having trouble with your eye and face. Could it be neuralgia? I love the photo of the geese Rosie. They are lined up so perfectly I thought I was having double vision! It is a lovely dry day here so far and I hope it is for you too! x

    1. Thank you Simone. As children we only ever used to say White Rabbits on 1st March so I hope March will be better for you than February which has been an extra dreary month this year, weather, news etc. I think the problems is with the trigeminal nerve around the eye so yes, probably neuralgia without much pain in the sense that I get numbness and tingling instead:)

  16. I'm sorry to hear about the sore eyes and the painful head and face. That's so miserable and I hope there's some improvement soon. It looks as if you went on an interesting short walk. There are quite a lot of old buildings to see along the way as well as the coots, ducks and squirrels. Coots are so amusing when they're in the water and walking around the edge of the lake.

    1. Thank you Linda, it is quite miserable as just as I think it is going away it gets worse again. This is the third week, I hope it goes away soon. The walk was lovely and like walking from winter into Spring, the squirrels in the park are very tame and come up to you asking for food:)
