I always think that the tulip tree in our garden looks lovely at this time of year
even when it is shedding its leaves all over the place.
I love to see them blowing about in the wind.
I took some of these photos on a sunny, dry day last week
when we'd ventured out to do a little bit of tidying up.
Since then we seem to have had an awful lot of rain
The leaves that were blowing happily around the garden being chased by cats and squirrels
are now rather brown and soggy looking!
I like the colors this time of year. Even a dull tree, which is rare, lights up and does it's fancy twirling show when the leaves dance. I live in the woods and I have so many leaves.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to live in the woods at this time of year especially:)
DeleteI have never heard of a tulip tree. Yours looks splendid and a welcome splash of golden colour. I like the fossil stones. Is the first one a trilobite? They look very effective embedded among the pebbles. x
ReplyDeleteThere is a link so you can read about the tulip tree. The fossils aren't real but casts - one trilobite and one amonite:)
DeleteLovely tree, great fossils.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Janet - they are just stepping stones but look quite effective I think:)
DeleteLovely colours in those leaves and that tree is such a gorgeous shape.
ReplyDeleteWe are gradually getting submerged in leaves once again and very soggy they are too. It's going to get even wilder next week, so I don't suppose our autumn colour will last for much longer. I must get out tomorrow with the camera before it is too late!
Hope you get out and about before the bad weather - the leaves are lovely until they get soggy and slippy underfoot:)
DeleteThe photo of the leaves with raindrops is exquisite !
ReplyDeleteThanks - it was lovely to see and photographed well:)
DeleteBeautiful tree. I love this time of year.
ReplyDeleteThanks, John - it is a special time of year:)
DeleteWhat a beautiful shape and the leaves have a similar appearance to maple ~ I just looked online and it seems they are from the magnolia family? I've never seen one.
ReplyDeleteDon't falling leaves make you want to go for a walk and crunch through them? I love this time of the year.
Marie x
Thanks, Marie - yes they are from the magnolia family. I love crunching through fallen leaves but they are getting soggy very quickly this year:)
DeleteBeautiful fall pictures! I thought we were the only ones to have fossils in our garden. Where did you find yours? My husband found ours in the very northern part of British Columbia many years ago when he worked up there.
ReplyDeleteThanks, krisite - the stepping stones are just casts of fossils - we do have some real ones indoors but those are just in the path - I think they look quite effective:)
DeleteThe golden yellow leaves of your tulip tree really stand out. We're certainly getting a mix of weather at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI'm not looking forward to the weather that has been predicted - we are going to put all the plants in pots into the greenhouse and put the garden furniture away this weekend just in case:)
DeleteThe colour of your tulip tree is lovely. The autumn colours haven't really got into their stride yet but are still lovely. Let's hope the weather forecast is exaggerated!
ReplyDeleteThe seasonal colours do seem to be more muted this year than last. I hope so too - we've cleared up all the pots and things in the garden just in case:)
DeleteYou have a wonderful tulip tree there Rosie. Stunning colours. We drove through Thetford Forest this afternoon and its the first time I've really noticed the change in colours this year - it certainly feels autumnal today! We've been putting things away just in case the big storm heads for Suffolk!
ReplyDeleteJeanne
Hello Jeanne - how nice to see you here again! I do hope the storm stays away from all of us but I expect it is best to be prepared:)
DeleteA lovely look at autumn in your garden. The Tulip Tree is beautiful and very striking amongst the green.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wendy it is a beautiful tree in all seasons and does contrast with all the other plants which are mostly evergreens:)
