Mr Fox has been visiting the garden in the early mornings and evenings. A few days ago I spotted him relaxing on the top lawn. I'm glad he feels safe here.
In my last post I promised a few more photos of The Ragged Victorians at the Gladstone Pottery Museum.
I can't remember what character the man above was meant to be. I love his hat.

These are fascinating. I wonder what the young girls think about their roles? Do they understand the concept, or do they just enjoy dressing up? I would have loved it as a child.
ReplyDeleteThank you Granny Sue. I think they did enter into the Victorian world and understood what they were doing and also enjoying it. I dressed up once or twice for events at Museums I worked at and it is fun, hard to remember sometimes the era you are supposed to be in and not react in a 'modern' way to people's questions:)

Thank you Caroline, yes, foxy seems to like our garden even though there are dogs either side of us, he often just creeps in as if he wants to keep it to himself. You too take care in the heat - it's 30 here in the conservatory, 24 in the living room but the sun hasn't got round to that side of the house yet:)

ReplyDeleteThank you CK. The costumes must be permanently aged and dyed to look dirty, plus the face make up on some of them. I feel sorry for the wildlife in this heat. Take care:)
DeleteI just looked back at your earlier post. What wonderful costumes. It's often the wealthy and influential people who are immortalized, and it's good to remember that most people did not have lavish lives.
