I've not written a post for a while.  To be honest I haven't felt like it what with one thing and another.  I thought I'd do a sequence of photos taken since my last post.  Not many words I'm afraid as I don't have them at the moment.

One of the young foxes visited before dark and posed for photos.

We stoped to walk at the JCB lake on our way to Ashbourne.

There were lots of Barnacle Geese

We bought a Helenium plant from the local garden centre.

It's called Mardi Gras.  I've wanted one for ages. I hope when it goes into the garden it spreads.

Paul made bread loaves.

We walked along the riverside in Bakewell on our way back from a funeral.

Not many people around, it's usually very busy.

It's a wonder the bridge over to the cattle market doesn't collapse under the weight of those locks.

Lastly, in the garden, the sunfower is growing tall.  We set four seeds in pots earlier this year, only one germinated.  I'm waiting to see what colour it will be as the seed packet held a mixture of seeds.  The wildlife will love it, I'm sure.

A couple of days after I'd written this post the sunflower started to open up - this is the colour and it has grown a few more inches too.

  1. The big ears on young foxes are so cute! Paul's bread looks delicious. I am sorry that you had a funeral to attend Rosie. The riverside walk must have felt very calming after a sad occasion. Good to see you back blogging. x

  2. I am so sorry that you had to attend a funeral Rosie. Such worrying and difficult times we live in.

Lovely to see all your photos - the fox cub is really rather cute and I do like the Helenium you have bought - I hope it thrives. Those keys on the bridge really do stand out from my visit to Bakewell.

Take care and look after yourselves.

    1. Thank you RR, my cousin had been ill since last March, I was glad we went to see him in June. There seemed to be more locks on the bridge than last time we visited Bakewell. I was so pleased to find the Helenium and the colour I wanted too. Fox is quite cute, he visited this morning, which was quite unexpected, Take care:)

    1. Thank you Barbara. I was the same not doing much to speak of but I thought I had a few photos I could post. Life seems to be in limbo at the moment, hope you feel like blogging again soon:)

  4. The strange distortion that Reading List applies to photos makes your fox look very Basil Brush! The hardware shops of Bakewell are obviously doing a fine trade in padlocks.

    1. Ha, Ha - I'm now going to nickname the fox Basil. They must be doing good trade but I'm sure the locks will soon have to be taken off the bridge for safety reasons, then maybe scrap metal dealers will do well:)

I have come to despise love locks.

    1. He is a handsome fox. I'm not a fan of the love locks either, hopefully the fad for them will fade:)

    1. Thank you Barbara. So many strange and awful things happening at the moment that have robbed me of words. There was a huge flock of the Barnacle geese flying around the lake and landing here and there seemingly just for the sheer joy of it:)

  7. Lovely to see you post & I feel much the same at the moment & am finding life so strange with being cooped up, not being able to go freely and see our family...or friends & all the bad world news that we just can't get away from hearing these days. Your photos made me smile & I'm going to try & keep posting too. Thanks, take care & hugs.

    1. Thank you Susan, glad you enjoyed the photos. The news at the moment is dreadful after so many months of nothing but local and covid news. Even though we are a little freer now I still don't want to travel far - we stopped off at a couple of places recently as we've come back from little outings and they were so busy, queues everywhere so we just retreated luckily we had taken refreshent with us so didn't have to contemplate cafes etc. I hope things improve where you are soon. Take care:)

  8. I enjoyed seeing your lovely photos, they tell the story of the happy corners of life at the moment and are good to look back on to give you cheer. Look at those cheeky foxes, I wonder what they are up to! The helenium has so many colours, a great addition to any garden. 😊

    1. Thank you Karen. There are always quiet places amongst all the hustle and bustle. The foxes sometimes pop through the hedge in daytime as they check the all gardens for food sources. I love the colour of the Helenium, it looks great with the white Cosmos too:)

    1. Thank you Pam, I'm ready for a short holiday, a change of scene. We may try to visit the coast in September or October when the schools are back and hopefully places a little less busy. I do so little to write about at the moment:)
