Five at Trentham

We popped to Trentham Gardens early this morning to renew our yearly passes before the queues started to build up at the reception desksAfterwards we went for a stroll around the lake and had morning coffee in the gardens.

We saw loads of butterflies, bees and dragonflies buzzing around the flower beds. Also swallows flitting over the lake.

Here are five of the things we saw as we wandered around.

Female black swan with her three cygnets.

 Gorgeous butterflies

 Bright and colourful summer flowers

Sunflowers and Red Hot Pokers.

Delicate wild flowers

These were buzzing with insects and blue damselflies, all impossible to catch on camera of course.

We also found a new 'mermaid' fairy in one of the fountain ponds.  There are one or two new fairies to be found in the gardens and several little ones with wings attached seeking them out.

It was lovely to be out in the fresh air.

    1. Thank you RR, if you do visit again it is worth going in the gardens as you have the formal gardens and a lovely lakeside walk with plenty of wildlife and coffee at each end of the lake. It was wonderful to see the Painted Lady and all the Peacocks, we saw Commas and lots of white butterflies too. Red Hot Pokers remind me of our garden when I was a child there were always red hot pokers and snapdragons, also red peonies and lilac:)

    1. Thank you Julie, the black swans arrived on the lake a couple of years ago, the white ones didn't like them at first but they gradually settled into an area at the bottom of the lake and this year have produced cygnets so it looks like they are now established there:)

    1. Thank you, glad you enjoyed the stroll, the mermaid is unusual isn't it, a bit different to the fairies but made by the same people:)
