After the Rain

Yesterday the weather was very wet.  We thought Friday was going to be the wettest day but that wasn't as bad a predicted, I think it all came yesterday.  When we popped out to do food shopping I was back in socks, boots and winter waterproof coat.  Around nine in the evening the rain had stopped and the sun appeared casting a golden glow over the garden.

I grabbed my camera and went out to take some photos.

I popped back into the conservatory as it was getting close to 'fox' time.  The little cubs visit and play in the garden before mum and dad fox fetch them back into the school nature reserve behind the hedge.  I managed to get a photo of the littlest cub.  They are such a delight to watch in the fading light.

  2. A lovely set of photos with the beautiful glow of evening light. Your garden is looking beautiful - our yellow flags in the pond have now started flowering too.

Rain was awful here Friday and Saturday and I too got drenched when I did a food shop but it also brightened up here last night and today is sunny and dry.

You are so fortunate to have foxes and cubs visiting. We have only very occasional sightings of foxes these days although years ago they were common here.

    1. Thank you RR. The weather has been awful, sometimes cold and miserable but occasionally sunlit and beautiful. We love having the foxes and we saw evidence of hedgehog the other day but on the front lawn so it may just have been passing by. The flags are going over a bit now but still looked lovely in the sunlight:)

    1. Thank you Barbara, how lovely to see the fox, they appear in all sorts of unexpected places and are becoming more urbanised than they used to be. The garden is very, very wet at the moment:)

  4. You're so lucky to have foxes visiting. My occasional fox has deserted since they cleared up the land at the back of my house, to build more houses I fear. Your garden is looking good.

    1. Thank you John, what a shame about your local foxes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the land belonging to the school stays as it is:)

  5. Gorgeous! I love that golden evening light. There is a variegated holly outside my window which catches the sun's last rays in the evening (if there's no cloud) and I find myself mesmerised by the glow every time. It's just beautiful. x

  8. Lovely Rosie & you have such a beautiful garden & its "flat". Ours being steep is the bane of my life. Oh the fox cub is just so cute!!!! Birds are only visitors to this garden....
Have a great week & take care.

    1. Thank you Susan, yes it is quite flat from the front and on the south side of the house and raises slightly, three steps worth, from the back of the house to the west, we are the lowest house on our row and the houses come down a slight hill - that is why we flood occasionally in torrential rain. The cubs are cute and fun to watch. Hope you too have a lovely week:)

  9. Great capture with the camera of that special evening light. How lovely that the foxes appear regularly! We have a deep hole in one of our flower beds near our high hedge. Something is digging a way through to the next door neighbour's garden which has been left uncultivated with many 'garden rooms' and bushes. It's a haven for wildlife.

    1. Thank you Linda, the light was so beautiful after all that rain. Didn't see the foxes last night beacuse of the rain, I expect they stayed in their den. I wonder what is burrowing through to your neighbour's garden? Rabbit or badger perhaps? Gardens are sometimes the only green areas left for some animals and lots of those are being paved over so it is good to have a wildlife area left every so often:)

    1. Thank you Pam, the weather is just awful, I hoping at least some of the flowers weather the onslaught from the wind and rain. The fox cubs are a joy to see and watch:)
