52 Weeks of Happy - Week Sixteen

Here are four happy moments from the last week - things that have cheered me up and made me smile

1.  Postal Delivery - of a package full of beautiful things.   I was so lucky to be chosen to receive the super give-away offered by Simone who makes these beautiful pieces of jewellery herself with such thought to detail and colour, I'm afraid that my photos don't do them justice.  I'm thrilled with both the bracelet and the pendant.  Do pop along to see Simone's work on her blog at Linden Grove and also in her on-line shop  Thank you, Simone!

2.  Theatre Visit - we usually have to travel to Stratford to see the RSC but this week they came to Stoke with their touring production of The Winter's Tale, and with the blustery wind in the city centre on Wednesday evening it did feel that we had taken a step back to winter, but all was cosy and warm in the theatre.  It was a wonderful production and the set was amazing.  We had a lovely evening and the three hours plus of the performance went by so quickly.

3. Nesting Birdsat home.....  We have wrens nesting in a bird box at the back of the house.  We can sit in the conservatory and watch the little birds land in the branches of the tree, their beaks full of moss and then position themselves up to make the flight to the little hole in the wooden house which they have lined with moss and other garden bits and pieces.  I took the photo of one of the wrens through the window.

and away...... a Grebe sitting on its nest on the Mill Lake at The Lawns Pleasure Grounds, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.

4.  First Butterfly - of the season,  a Peacock resting on one of the walls around the raised beds in the garden.  The sun was warm enough for it to open its wings and stay awhile - just long enough for me to take its photo.

  3. Some lovely happy moments. Thank you for the kind endorsement Rosie! I saw a wren in the garden today - such a pretty little bird. You are so lucky to have them nesting so close to the house. Isn't it lovely that the butterflies are beginning to emerge again? x

    1. You are welcome, Simone. I am a bit concerned that the wrens are so close to the house but they have chosen where they want to be, last year they built a nest under the eaves of the shed roof:)

  4. Yesterday was the first day I have seen the butterflies out, a wonderful sight!

  5. I am very envious of your nesting wrens. I was gardening yesterday and if my garden Robin had got any closer he would have been on my shoulder! I've cut away a lot of ivy in order to get a fence replaced, I hope it doesn't affect the birds too much, I'd hate to think I was demolishing a nesting spot.

    1. Robins are quite fearless little birds aren't they? Ours are shyer this year than last - one of last year's robins used to come right up to the kitchen window to ask for breakfast:)

  6. How lovely to see your wren nesting like that and also to see the butterfly! Both sightings would give me pleasure, too, as would a visit to the theatre and receiving beautiful jewelry. Hope there are more happy moments for you this week!

  7. Lovely to see the wren nesting, they are such gorgeous little birds. It is wonderful to see the Peacock enjoying the sun. And I love the Grebes, I always like to catch a glimpse of their courtship display each spring.

    1. I love to watch the Grebes at this time of year as you can actually get a photo of them, at other times of the year they dip and dive too quickly to catch them:)

  8. Oh you have had a happy week. The jewellery is lovely and I think wrens are the cutest birds. We used to have one in our garden but it seems to have disappeared which is such a shame. The theatre visit sounds great- you sometimes can't just beat a bit of live theatre. :)

  10. The jewellery looks lovely - and beautifully packaged. I'm glad you enjoyed The Winter's Tale - I presume the set was the same as the one we saw at Stratford?- amazing. How lovely to have wrens nesting - you take very good bird photos. Abby x

    1. Yes the jewellery was beautifully packaged. The WT set resembled one of those towers you get in fish tanks and the backdrop was of bubbling water to give that effect - it was amazing when it lifted Leontes right up and then in part two when it revolved to reveal the stairs - he hadn't been up there all the time:)
