Back Home

We've spent the last few days in Wales. A land of huge hills and mountains, beautiful coastlines, ancient castles and slate quarries; a land of myths and legends; a land full of history and beauty. Here are just a few images from our visit. I'll be back with more later!

Criccieth Castle on a dull Sunday morning

Fishermen's cottages, Criccieth

Cromlech, Parc Glynllifon

Bronze statue of Prince Llywelyn's faithful hound Gelert, Beddgelert

Barmouth from high up on Dinas Olau - the Fortress of Light - after climbing the many steps through the old town.

Rooftops and old slate walls in the old town of Barmouth

Bangor Pier - ahead the island of Anglesey

Even here you can't escape the political world - love these election posters, though!

  1. Hi Rosie,

I'm not sure when the rock house was restored, I haven't seen that one either but I guess it was fairly recently.

Lovely photos of Wales, they remind me of a camping trip about 4 years ago - we stayed in Beddgelert and it rained for most of the days but we still had a great time. We also enjoyed delicious pistachio ice cream in Criccieth! It's such a beautiful area, even a bus driving into my car in the middle of the holiday didn't spoil it for us!!

Hope you enjoyed the break, I look forward to hearing more!

    Have a lovely weekend :)

  5. Hi Rosie,
We used to go to Beddgelert a lot when the children were little - they spent hours throwing stones into the river there. I hope the lovely ice-cream shop is still in the village.
Glad to see you had a good time>

  10. Lovely photos - I've been to some of those places, so I enjoyed them very much.

the stone is so beautiful there, used everywhere, and local slate for roof tiles. I do like buildings that live in the landscape, if you see what I mean!

  11. We missed you whilst you were away and wondered where you had been. This part of Wales is yet another place on my wish list, it looks so pretty.

Hope you are feeling better after your holiday.

I look forward to seeing more pictures, I have been visiting them via Google Earth.

You should do a guide book, "Rosie Recommends".
