The tulip tree leaves are turning yellow already. It's a very Autumnal thing but it could also be lack of any decent showers of rain lately. Leaves are also falling on the top lawn. August is fast fading.
The garden is looking uncared for, although work has been done.
Especially on clearing the gravel path of weeds.
Heleniums and Echinaceas are doing well.
There is a small apple on the small apple tree.
Out and about on our walks there have been plenty of berries and fungi too.
There is now a slight chill in the morning air and jackets, admittedly lightweight ones, have been worn again first thing.
Can you bear another Wallaby? I hope so. This one is Nibbles.
The last two next time.
A lovely autumnal post Rosie. Your garden is looking lovely - those Heleniums are beautiful. We've just come back from Herefordshire and I noticed there all the trees turning colour and leaves starting to fall. It looks a good year for Hawthorn berries. Love Nibbles the wallaby :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Caroline, it's been hard work in the garden this year, mostly for Paul. I love the Heleniums and I'm glad they have kept going through the summer. Yes, it seems a good year for Hawthorn berries, I noticed them when we were out and about, some of the hedges seemed completely red:)
DeleteI love the Tulip tree.
ReplyDeleteThank you Robert, you have, I'm sure, seen it in all seasons. Hard to think we brought it home from the garden centre on the back seat of the car all those years ago:)
DeleteWell, hello Nibbles! You are having a strange August in the garden with all the leaves falling already and fungi all over the place out and about. Your garden still looks lovely though, that apple looks delicious. 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you CK, leaves are leaving the tulip tree very quickly this year and there are definite signs of autumn in the air. It was warm enough to sit out in the garden yesterday, although we do need rain:)
DeleteThe light is changing and Autumn is around the corner. How lovely it is looking in your corner of the world. Hawthorns and Elderberry look much the same here just now. Nibbles is very cute.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorrie, the trees and hedgerows are full of berries this year, especially Hawthorne:)
DeleteYes, the tulip poplar are turning here as well, and our big maples are dropping leaves like crazy. We need rain! What a year it has been, too much, too little, no balance. Poor plants dont know whether they are coming or going.
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks lovely, so many great flowers.
Thank you Granny Sue, yes we do need a lot more rain and as you say plants and trees are in turmoil not knowing what season they are in:)
DeleteI love this time of year with the damper cooler mornings. Your cone flowers are looking stunning. B x
ReplyDeleteThank you B, cone flowers seem to like our heavy clay soil and come back every year, after yesterday's heat the air is cooler this morning:)
DeleteAlthough the temperatures are still high, there is a definite hint of autumn in the air. Your garden is still looking beautiful. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Jules, I'm glad of the colour in the garden but yes, there is a definite hint of Autumn in the air:)
DeleteA lovely gentle start to Autumn as the seasons begin to change once more. A delight to see all the berries ripening and all the fungi too. I love the Echinaceas. I think mine need splitting this year they have done so well. Enjoyed seeing the changing colours in your garden, Rosie.
ReplyDeleteLovely to meet Nibbles - great name.😊
Have a good week.
Thank you Beverley. It is a lovely gentle start to Autumn, I guess it starts next week as we go into September. I love the Echinaceas, we split ours a few years ago and have them in two different beds and they are spreading again. They seem to thrive in our clay soil:)
DeleteI enjoyed the photos of your autumnal garden. Even for us, with our long hot summer, there are signs that autumn is coming. Bliss.

Thank you Amalia, it seems that signs of Autumn are being seen all over, lots of auntumnal colours to look forward to:)
