Thursday's walk was a leisurely stroll around Westport Lake and later down the canal path we went to Middleport Pottery for lunch, it was a sunny but chilly day with a cool breeze so a thick pea and mint soup was consumed and enjoyed before we headed home.
The grass was white with daisies.
There were lots of lovely reflections in the small pools at the side of the lake.
Swan and cygnets
Female Mallard with ducklings.
A brave Greylag hoping we had food
Canalside at the pottery.
Bottle Oven, Bottle Kiln or Pot Bank as they are called locally.

Spotted - does this need a funny caption? My brain has been devoid of words the last few days.
Sorry, that's three posts in one day but it seemed better to split up each walk to keep the posts short or shorter.
What a really lovely walk and great to see the cygnets and ducklings. I love the owl :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Caroline, lovely to see the young water birds, I hope some of them survive, nature can be cruel and they have lots of predators but they are so lovely to see. The owl was great and I loved the pigeon behind it:)
DeleteThe soup sounds delicious perfect for a chilly, breezy day. Another great walk, you had better put your feet up today or perhaps you are ready for another walk! We have been lucky with the weather lately and now the temperatures are set to soar. I accidentally published 2 posts at the same time last week, I'll have to get cracking to find something else to show you! 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you CK. the soup was delicious and just the thing after a cool walk. We had one more walk that week, in the bluebell wood so one more post to come. I always enjoy reading about your adventures and the weather has been just right for them:)
DeleteHello Rosie, what beautiful photos of your lovely walk! I also love the background on your blog. Warm greetings from Montreal, Canada.
ReplyDeleteHello Linda thank you for visiting and leaving a comment, I'm glad you enjoyed reading about my walks:)
DeleteLovely to see the grey lag geese. We still have our Brent geese but I daresay they will be flying off very soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you B. I love the greylags and that one came right up to us, I expect to see if we had duck food, there were two of them guarding a nest on the other side of the pond:)
DeleteOh, great walk and your Grey lag geese remind me of our Cape Barren Geese & of course we have black swans, not white. The pottery looks very interesting. Take care & hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan, the walk was lovely with all the young water birds, the baby coots were cute but I didn't get a photograph of them. The pottery is an old Victorian style one still working, the Gladstone Pottery Museum is the other Victorian one but not working as a pottery, lots of film and TV made there at or near both of them:)
DeleteI have been to the Gladstone pottery museum but not this one. I shall add it to my places to visit. Thank you for bringing this new one to my attention.
ReplyDeleteThank you Beverley. It's well worth a visit and lots to see on what they call the heritage trail around the old part of the factory, office and house across the road, also lovely shop of wares made there plus other shops and a good cafe too:)
DeleteBeautiful photos across all the 3 posts Rosie. I like the swans especially. Re a caption: Owl and the pigeon doesn't have the same ring to it as owl and the pussycat! That was the best I could do on the spur of the moment! x
ReplyDeleteThank you Simone, I'm glad you enjoyed the posts. Ha. I can't see them in a pea green boat together either, the only thing I could think of was 'It's behind you' but it would have worked better if the pigeon was in front:)
