Bridgemere Show Gardens

On the last Friday in June we visited the Bridgemere Show Gardens.  We often visit the garden centre but hadn't been into the gardens for quite a while.

It used to be free to wander around but over the last two or three years a charge for entry has been introduced.  This is because it is now an RHS Partner Garden and many changes have been made.

Blogger has just decided to put my photos on back to front.  Never mind I can't be bother to change them.  The show gardens are set in six acres and is made up of fifteen gardens, eight of which are gold and silver award winners from RHS Chelsea, Hampton Court and Tatton Park dating from 1988 to the present.

The Japanese Garden
The Down Memory Lane garden. Designed for those who have dementia and their carers, to trigger many garden related memories.  I'll add some more photos of this garden at the end.

The Forge Garden - inspired by the National Trust's 15th century forge in Branscombe, Devon.  It was awarded a silver medal and the best Artisan garden at RHS Chelseas 2021.

There are some lovely seating areas.
Victorian style topiary garden

The Bandstand garden.

There is a large pond with a water fall.

Shady woodland walks

The Cottage Garden

  1. What a lovely set of gardens and a super place to visit and wander round. They remind me a little of Hill Close Gardens in Warwick - which are a series of little gardens with different themes. They charge as well but are not linked to the RHS as far as I know. Each of your gardens is delightful in its own way. Have a lovely weekend.

    1. They are lovely gardens and so many more had been added since our last visit. I think the people's choice from this year's Chelsea flower show is going to be reconstructed there later this year. I hope you too have a lovely weekend:)

    1. It was my favourite too. I thought you would like it. It did bring back memories of the gardens of grandparents and childhood homes. Have a good weekend:)

  3. I hate it when Blogger does that, walking around in the wrong order just doesn't feel right! The gardens, however, look a treat, such a good idea to save the award winning ones from the shows. Those lupins look fantastic. A good range of interesting design ideas. 😊

    1. Isn't it annoying! I put photos on another post for later this week and it put those on in the order I'd clicked, I've no idea why it does that. The gardens are lovely and the new ones added since our last visit were super. Those lupins were gorgeous. Have a good weekend:)

    1. The Forge Garden was lovely with the tinkling rill around it. Apparently most of the plants in the garden can be used for medicinal purposes and are great for pollinators, their dark colours were chosen to represent the coal and smoke colours that the forge would produce when working:)

    1. It is lovely. I think they have room to take on more gardens in the future. Two or three I'd not seen before. There are good information panels about the plants too:)
