We've been away in Wales for a few days. When we got home the first strawberries of the season had ripened after spending lots of weeks looking hard and green.
The first sweet pea flowers had opened up as well.
I've popped a few photos of where we've been below and I'll be back with more on some of them in a later post.
Colwyn Bay
Llandudno
Bodnant Gardens
Sheep grazing near the cafe at the top of Horseshoe Pass
Inside the Home Front Museum, Llandudno
Swan and cygnets at the Rhuddlan nature reserve.
Welsh Dragon on a 20mph road sign near the school in Acrefair.
All for now.
Lovely. I’ve always wanted to visit Bodnant Gardens and look forward to seeing your photos.😁
ReplyDeleteThank you Sal. I didn't take too many photos this time as we didn't walk too far in the heat and just sat for a while with an ice cream in the shade. We've been lucky enough to visit many times over the years. The rose garden was stunning so the camera came out them:)
DeleteI'm glad that your absence meant you were away doing something nice Rosie! How lovely that you can pick some nice fresh ripe home grown strawberries for your breakfast or tea! x
ReplyDeleteThank you Simone, it was good to get away for a few days, I wish it could have been longer. The strawberries are lovely and tasty, I really thought they would never ripen this year:)
DeleteOh, I will look forward to more photos of Wales! We were only there once, and enjoyed it so much.
ReplyDeleteThe berries and sweet peas look marvelous.
Thank you Granny Sue, I will write a couple more posts about our visit, it is so beautiful. The strawberries are delicious:)
DeleteNow you've got me wanting strawberries - must remember to add them to my shopping order. Although I've been to most parts of these islands I've somehow never got to North Wales, so I'm looking forward to more photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you John, I hope you can get some tasty strawberries with your order. There will be a few more photos, we were only there for a short time so not as many as usual:)
DeleteIt looks as though you have had a super few days away Rosie. I look forward to seeing more photos. How lovely to arrive back home and find ripe strawberries and sweet peas flowering :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Caroline. Just a few days, wish it could have been longer. It was good to find red strawberries, they had been green for so long without any sunshine to ripen them. I hope you are okay:)
DeleteOooh fantastic, it looks like you've had a great holiday and have been to lots of interesting places. What a treat to come home to strawberries and sweet peas as well. I have fond memories of Bodnant Gardens from 40 years ago with their laburnam arch. I look forward to seeing what else they have there nowadays. 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you, yes we had a good time. I didn't take many photos at Bodnant as we popped in for lunch and then just sat in the shade for a while. We've been several times before so didn't venture down to the farthest part of the garden as it was too hot. We wandered around the rose garden:)
DeleteI'm glad you had a good holiday. There are so many wonderful places in Wales to visit and you've shared a selection that I remember well from our own holidays. You didn't miss out on the sweet peas and strawberries when you got back home. I'm sure you enjoyed them. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, we had a good time. There are some lovely places to visit along the coast and inland. It was lovely to see the strawberries and sweet peas when we arrived home:)
DeleteYour strawberries are looking wonderful. Amazing how they can ripen in just a few days. I had to net mine after the first few disappeared!! Sweet peas are a wonderful summer planr especially if you can keep picking the. Mine are not doing well, probably too shadier spot this year.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your few days away and I look forward to hearing more of your adventures.
Thank you Beverley. The squirrels are taking strawberries so we have to be quick, we have some in the greenhouse too. I must pick a bunch of sweet peas for the house soon:)
DeleteLovely Wales. Bet you had a great time. I look forward to hearing more.
ReplyDeleteThank you B. It was lovely, warm and dry for once:)
