Blossom

The blossom trees are flowering along the River Trent at Trentham Gardens so we thought we would take a few photos yesterday morning before all the blossom is dashed by rain and wind.  It has been very windy here over the last few days although we did manage a sunny if breezy walk on Sunday morning.

As I was typing this post there was a huge clap of thunder like a whip crack overhead, for a moment I thought the window had broken.  We are now being bombarded by hailstones the size of frozen peas.  A bit more than April showers I think.  I managed to rescue the towels from the line, just as wet as when I put them out this morning.

I'm so glad we photographed the blossom yesterday.

  1. We also had that hail and thunder storm in Norwich. The photos of the blossom trees are lovely and so is the Trentham gardens. We used to live in Burton-on-Trent and I think we did visit that garden place.

    1. Thank you Pat. It seems as if lots of people across the country had the sudden storm. I expect it was Trentham Gardens you visited from Burton-on-Trent, they are lovely and improve each year. We have visited Burton-on-Trent a few times over the years as some of my ancestors are from that area. Such a long time since we visited Norwich though, it's a beautiful city. We often went into Norfolk for days out when we lived in South Lincolnshire:)

  2. Beautiful blossom Rosie and lovely photos. Good that you had chance to see it before the strong winds arrived. Its been windy here too - no thunder but we did have hail. Its been so difficult to get washing dry outside with all the rain we have been having. Trentham looks a wonderful place to visit regularly and I always enjoy your posts on your walks there.

    1. Thank you Caroline. I bet the trees are not looking as good after yesterday's storms, I'm so glad we saw them on Monday. There was no warning of the thunder it just went bang right overhead, made me jump as I'm sensitive to loud noises due to the tinnitus. We invest in a yearly pass for Trentham and we do feel we get value from it, a great place to walk and get into the fresh air:)

  3. The blossom looks beautiful with the blue skies, not as good with the 'frozen peas' I'm sure. Good job you visited when you did. We've been having a lot of squally gales and I'm pleased to see our peony is standing straight again this morning. 😊

    1. Thank you CK, yes the skies were quite blue for a while. I expect the trees were damaged by wind and hail yesterday. Glad your peony is doing well, ours are coming along too, I've put a support around the larger one:)

  4. I love to see the trees in blossom. We had hail here too and wind and rain and it is still far too cold to be in the garden and do anything. Did you see the reported floods in Dubai? I only found out about cloud seeding about a month ago. I am now beginning to wonder if the weather patterns (seasons) are all messed up due to artificially inducing rain!

    1. Thank you Simone, blossom trees are looking lovely at the moment aren't they? Yes, I saw the floods in Dubai and it does make you wonder about the cloud seeding inducing rain artificially, it does seem quite strange to mess with weather patterns which certainly seem to be all over the place at the moments:)

  5. Pink cherry blossom is my favourite. Always sad when we have strong winds to blow it all away. We’ve recently had an improved view of our miniature cherry blossom tree since the storm destroyed one of our fences and we decided not to replace it. B x

    1. Thank you B, yes the cherry blossom is lovely but so fragile in this kind of weather. We seem to take one step forward and two back as we try and reach Spring:)

  6. Such beautiful tress and Blossom. My neighbour has a cherry tree full of Blossom. Though we're treading it in, it's still beautiful... my lawn is covered in a carpet of pink petals.

  7. Very pretty pink blossom. I'm glad you were able to take photos before the hail arrived. We got it here as well.

    1. It is lovely. It's a shame it doesn't last long especially in the recent weather:)
