Lately

It seems ages since I last wrote a post.  Time seems to have rushed by with medical appointments. eye tests, dental check ups, flu jabs and etc taking up most of the days in one way ot another.

I'm still having problems leaving comments. The blogs I can't comment on recently are:  A Rich Tapestry, Linden Grove, Our Small Corner and Sal's Snippets. Coastal Ripples and Crimson Kettle I seem to be able to leave an anonymous comment with although sometimes I get an ' error cannot publish' message on those.  I've tried in many different ways including changing browser but no luck so far.

We popped up to the Peak Wildlife Park a couple of weeks ago to see the Red Squirrels again.  There were three males in the compound this time.

We also had a morning in Leek where we mooched around the shops and market and stopped for very artistic coffees at the 'Live, Love Loaf' bakery and cafe.

I love the small independent shops in Leek.  Especially the one below.

It only opens a few days a week but sells stock that is British made or is Fairtrade and ethically produced.

They concentrate on home and garden but items reflect the owner's love of nature and wildlife.

Meanwhile in Trentham Gardens the shopping village is looking Autumnal.

All the shops have little creatures and pumpkins painted on the windows ready for Halloween.

In the gardens it's fungi time.

There's lots of it too.

At home I've made a small nature table.

The Horse Chestnut tree at the top of nextdoor's garden has been covered and the grey squirrels have been collecting the conkers and burying them all over the garden.  In the lawn and in the plant pots too.

Meanwhile  part of the holly hedge at the top of the garden is covered in red berries.

Does this herald a cold winter perhaps? Today it is warm and sunny but tomorrow we are to be visited by Storm Babet.  There is so much in the garden still to tidy but it will be too wet for a while.

All for now.

    1. Thank you Chris, I'm glad you enjoyed my post. The garden squirrels are eating a lot of bird food too at the moment and they have broken one of the feeders. Still love to see them though. Happy Autumnal days to you too:)

  2. A while back, I was having problems leaving comments on blogs too, only able to write as anonymous. Then I discovered It was my cookies setting So, check that little eye symbol, in the address bar or whatever you call it at the top. if it's got a line through it, just click and remove it, I don't know if this will help or not. I hope it does.
I enjoyed reading your blog today.

    1. Thank you for your helpful comment. I will try to follow it through. I sometimes have a line through the little padlock in the address bar which tells me if a site is unsafe perhaps that is it? I'll keep trying. I'm so glad you enjoyed my blog today:)

    1. Thanks, shazza, yes Leek is a lovely little town with a lively centre and much to offer. I love the little red squirrels although I still like to see the grey ones in the garden, chasing each other and burying things:)

  4. The nature table is such a lovely idea. It takes me back my primary school days :) The shop in Leek looks as though it sells some rather super products. I do like towns full of independent shops! Super photos of the Red Squirrels - always such a treat to see them. Take care Rosie.

    1. Thank you RR. Yes, the nature table took me straight back to primary school in the late 1950s, we were a small school in a small village with woods all around. We used to go for nature walks and keep a nature table in the classroom. The shop in Leek is gorgeous, I could spend quite a lot of money there, it's a good job we seem to choose to visit on the days it is closed - we did find it open earlier this year and there were so many lovely things. You too take care:)

  5. Nice to see you back Rosie! I love the red squirrels! I haven't seen red squirrels in years - probably in the I.O.W. The independent shops look lovely with quality items. Rare to see where I am which mainly consists of fried chicken shops, charity shops, betting shops, nail bars, tattoo parlours, Turkish barbers etc., I yearn to get away from it all! Your nature table is a good reminder to focus on nature and see the beauty that's in it. x

    1. Thank you Simone, apologies for not being able to comment at the moment but I do put 'likes' on your You tube films which I enjoy. Our nearst town here is full of the same kind of places, charity shops, nail bars and loads of Turkish barbers although one or two new shops are opening in the shopping centre the main street is half full of empty shops - including an old Woolworths as well as Wilco:( I try to see the beauty in small things as all seems too awful at the moment. We've been lucky to see red squirrels in the wild in Formby, Lancashire and in Scotland:)

My blog is a bit quiet at the moment so there's not too much to comment on! A deluge might follow though! It's great to see the squirrels and Autumn treats, a lovely time of yea r. 😊
