A Short Walk a bit further away from Home

We'd not walked on the High Peak Trail for ages and hadn't been out this way for over three months, probably more like four.  It was good to walk just  a little way in the breezy sunshine and take in some fresh air.

There was hardly anyone around so we had the pathway to ourselves

There were lovely distant views along the path
and over the trees

The birds were singing and the verges were frothy with grasses plants and flowers.

All seemed perfect

worries melted away

The sign was new

Red Campion seemed to be the flower of the moment.
I was pleased to see no litter along the path as I've been appalled by the scenes I'd seen over the weekend on both television and online.  I ask myself why anyone would visit a place of beauty and leave litter behind.  In fact why would you do that anywhere, beautiful or not?  If you can carry picnics and other items to a beach, lake or park why on earth can you not carry whatever is left home again when the burden is probably lighter?  Not dealing with your own litter shows complete disregard and even contempt for the enviroment, nature and wildlife as well as for your fellow human beings.  Sorry, grumbling over for now.

  1. Lovely walking country & I'm so with you on the litter front. I often what these trashy people's own homes look like (ugh!) & how they were brought up with no respect or pride. Tke care, stay safe & huggles.

    1. It was lovely to be out for a walk, I dislike litter at any time but the amounts that left after the hot days on the beaches was just unbelievable just like you see after a large music festival. Perhaps they respect only their own home but nothing beyond their gaden gate? I don't know:( Take care and stay safe Susan:)

  2. Thanks for taking me along on your lovely walk, Rosie. Yesterday afternoon I watched an episode of your UK Escape to the Country from my condo unit near the base of Mt. Hood in Portland, Oregon, USA. 💞💐💞💐💞🤗

  3. Lovely walk and so glad that there was no litter. Like you, I don't understand why people leave rubbish behind.

    1. It was a lovely walk, the littering and fly tipping seems to have got a lot worse over the last few months I'm afraid, it's beyong my comprehension why people would do such a thing:)

  4. Oh isn't it so beautiful, a lovely cheering walk even though it's not as warm as it might be. I just can't understand why people leave litter and now they're leaving their masks too. Unbelievable. 😊

    1. It was a lovely cheering walk and great to be out and about away from home for a short while. I'd heard of nappies etc being left behind but not the masks! How awaful for those having to clear everything up, I hope they have protective clothing to work in:)

  5. A great place for a walk, especially with so few people about. From my own observations most people are fed up with the novelty of going for a walk and are making up for lost time by visiting TK Max.

  6. It must have been wonderful to get out and about again Rosie. Unfortunately I am going out less and less. When I do I always get someone come up close behind me or stand right next to me in the local shop. We have much more awareness nowadays about pollution and all the rubbish that end up in the sea. The people that leave their detritus behind are either stupid, ignorant or just couldn't care less. Do you remember the TV campaign years ago about litter? 'My little piece of rubbish won't matter' or words to that effect. Trouble is people leave their litter behind because they know that nothing will happen to them if they do. It is nice to know that you enjoyed a litter free outing! :)

    1. I seem to attract people walking towards me too. I think they think that its me that should move for them, I try my best to oblige as I don't want them near me and they seem in another world as they walk about determinedly ignoring anyone's presence nearby:) I haven't been in a shop or supermarket since 23rd March, my only trip 'inside' was to the clinic for a blood test, the mask made my glasses steam up so I couldn't really see what was happening but I did just manage to hear them call my name:):) I do remember some of the adverts about litter, we could do with some more now:)

  7. What a lovely walk and so pleased you found somewhere a little further afield that was quiet! The photos are super and it is wonderful to see the wild flowers. So glad your walk was litter free as you say the photos on the news of the litter strewn beaches was just dreadful to see. I just can't believe how people can be so very selfish and thoughtless. The parks in Solihull are asking people to take their litter home with them so it sounds as though they have had problems too :(

Enjoy the rest of the week and weekend and take care.

    1. We'd been to Nottingham to visit friends and sit in their garden for a while as it was Paul's birthday, we stayed the required distance apart and they had a downstairs loo for visitors separate to theirs. We stopped on the way home for a leg stretch and had a very short walk but it was lovely. I've been so upset by the litter left and people's uncaring attitude not only by leaving rubbish for others to deal with but gathering so close together - so very selfish. I think it was Rugby who put tons of black bags full of rubbish back into their park to show people what they had collected (it was taken away again afrerwards) I said at the time that no doubt people would go and have selfies taken near it just for a laugh as they probably wouldn't care anyway. Have a great weekend and stay safe:)
