Scenes from a Few Days Away

We are just back home after a few days away in Wales.  Well, I say just back, in fact we've been home for a couple of days now but I've been busy catching up on the usual round of washing and ironing not to mention working in the garden  which seems to have run rampant whilst we have been away.  Thank you for all your kind comments left on my last post whilst I was away and I think I've caught up on all your posts now although I haven't commented on them all yet so forgive me if I seem to have missed visiting you for a while.

Although we have had quite a restful holiday we did manage to visit a few well loved and familiar places, many of which I've blogged about on here over the years.  This visit we sat on the beach at Llanbedrog where I buried my feet in the dry sand, I loved the Dragon seat at Craflwyn.  We also somehow managed to get to the top of one of the mountains between Beddgelert and Sygun.  The views were stunning - so was the fact that I got up there and got down again!

Below are some more photos of the places we have visited.

The beaches at Borth-y-gest and Criccieth where we walked and walked especially at Criccieth.

The beach huts at Llanbedrog, featured here many times before.  A blue tit at the RSPB reserve at Lake Vyrnwy, Llyn Dinas near the Sygun Copper Mine and that place with a long name on Anglesey.

The magical gardens of Plas Newydd (above) and Plas Brodanw (below)

It's not everyday you find a sculpture of a fairy cake in a fish pond!

Ok, it's time to go back to the garden!

    1. Thanks, Simone - we have so much work to do in the garden as we've allowed plants to grow and spread too much and some of them are taking over:)

  2. The not nice part of a holiday is the sorting out of things when you get home! Some lovely photos there, it looks like you've had a fabulous time. I especially love the photo or your feet buried in the sand, can't beat that feeling! Suzy x

  3. Hi Rosie,

Like you, I was on a sandy beach, though ours was just an afternoon out. It is lovely to feel the wind in your hair and smell that salt air isn't it?

Good to hear that you had an enjoyable break in Wales. I hardly dare venture into our garden, as it hasn't had a proper weeding in weeks

    1. Our garden is the same we've let it get out of hand and now it will take ages to sort it out:)

  4. It's wonderful to re-visit places that you have come to love. As I get older I find I'm doing much of the same, it seems like a home from home.
The ironing pile here is getting quite high.. I sympathise!

    1. I've halved the ironing pile whilst the weather outside is to wet and windy to work in the garden. I do love the Llyn Peninsula and always feel at home there:)

  6. Sounds like a lovely break. I loved your seaside photos, especially as I doubt I will get to see the sea this year. Those gardens you visited look great too. I love Criccieth, just because it's where Dave and I collected the stones to make our pebble people ( http://roachling.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/photo-scavenger-hunt-october.html ) on our first holiday together. We went down the Sygun Copper Mine too :) I love Wales, I'd really like to go back to North Wales - so many places on my list though, so little time!

  7. Lovely photos of your holiday - I don't know Wales very well at all - I really must remedy that one day. That's the trouble with going away, you always have to come back to all the laundry and a garden that has gone mad. Glad you enjoyed it - looks like you had plenty of exercise.

    1. Most of the laundry is done now and half the ironing - I wish I could say the same about the garden - rain has stopped play at the moment:)

    1. Those trees looked wonderful as we passed by - when we came back from our walk loads of red squirrels (ceramic ones) had been placed under them for a children's event the next day:)
