Here We Go Again!

I woke up at 2.30a.m. and it was so quiet and light I just knew what would be outside.  The weather forecasts were spot on.........

.........yes, more snow!  I know snow in March isn't unusual in fact in April 1979  a couple of weeks before our wedding we got stuck in a snow storm in a van we'd hired to collect a second hand sofa we'd bought for our new home. It's just that this year winter seems to be going on forever and spring, which seemed so tantalisingly close a couple of weeks ago, has retreated into its colourful shell.

There's only one thing to be done on such a day.   Stay in and make some tasty warm soup for lunch.

Carrot and Coriander? Lovely!  The only downside is that I have no excuse not to start on that pile of ironing.  Ah, well at least it will keep me warm!

  1. Let us hope that our late Spring will come up trumps and we have a most wonderful summertime of hot, dry air and cool breezes and bright blue skies. Well, one can dream! My daffodils are still in bud and the primrose (I only have one) doesn't have a flower to be seen! You have put me in the mood for some soup Rosie, so I think I will be having lentil and vegetable for my lunch with some Ostara bread that I made yesterday. Have a cosy day indoors. I will join you later with the ironing too!!! x

  2. This winter seems never-ending. The snow on your bird feeders shows how miserable it must be for the birds. But your soup looks delicious; it really is soup weather.

  3. I know...what can you say? Then hubby reminds me he was sunbathing this time last year in the back garden. One of my members is getting married at Barlaston tomorrow, I've told her to change her vintage style wedding to a Narnia one, will make for pretty photos.

  6. I just can't believe this weather. We have beautiful sunny, blue skies here but it is SO cold. Our forecast is for snow tomorrow too. Will have to get out all the bad weather gear again, snow boots, furry mitts and hats etc. Last week was positively warm with thoughts that summer wasnt too far away. My mum used to say "n'ere cast a clout till May is out' and I guess that's pretty much true these days. Your soup looks very warming and delicious.

  10. I would love to do your ironing in exchange for staying for a bowl of soup...lol. I love to iron. And that soup looks so yummy! Almost worth more snow. We have no snow now but it is cold with a biting east wind. I am so over winter and ready for being in the garden.

    1. We seem to be in the swathe of weather that is across the middle of England from Nottingham and across Derbyshire to here. Looks like it is here for a while as well! You too have a good weekend:)

  12. I am very ready for spring. The contrast between this march and last is amazing! That said, I'm not complaining that it's still winter - spring would be nice but I do love our varied weather and I did get a much needed extra day off today!

    1. I thought you might have a day off as the road out there was blocked. It was a lot warmer last March and like you I like varied weather but the snow is really disrupting our plans now:)

  13. No snow in Devon, but bitterly cold wind and an awful lot of rain. Floods again. The pheasants have been sitting outside my window all day and looking thoroughly miserable. I caved in this afternoon and gave them some birdseed.

    1. Poor pheasants, they obviously trust you and look for food. Stay warm and dry if you can:)
