We've been away for a few days in Wales, staying in the town of Porthmadog. We hadn't visited this area of Wales since before Covid - everything nowadays seems to be remembered as being either pre or post covid doesn't it? Anyway we often used to stay at our neighbours' holiday home near the village of Garreg. Sadly, it was sold in 2019 when they could no longer get there due to illness.
Our hotel in Porthmadog was ideally situated next to the Cobb and opposite the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland railway station just by the harbour.

All for now, the garden needs attention and washing needs to be done. I'll be back with more later.
I am so pleased you managed to get away for a few days and visit such lovely places. There is something special about that part of Wales. The last 3 photos bring back memories and it is always good to see ospreys. Look forward to more photos later.
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely to return to some of our favourite places. One pair of Ospreys had failed to produce any eggs because the male bird Aaron was late returning to Wales due to storms around Spain. The other nest had chicks in it, so they were hoping they would be okay. I'll write a couple of posts later this week about some of the places in more detail:)
DeleteIt looks like a beautiful area to visit. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your photographs, as I'll be staying not too far from there in the summer. Xx
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely area and we are quite fond of it having spent many days there. I'll write in detail about some of the places later this week:)
DeleteIt looks wonderful Rosie. Postcard perfect pictures. You were lucky with the weather. It has rained for days on end here! The first photograph would make for a lovely watercolour painting. :)
ReplyDeleteConsidering the mist and drizzle some of the photos turned out quite well. I'm glad you like the first photo, it was late evening and quite misty when I took it, this was the view we had from our bedroom window:)
DeleteSuch a beautiful part of wales. I would love to return there one day. Looks like you had a perfect break away visiting very scenic places. B x
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely area and it's always good to return. The whole of the Llyn peninsula is wonderful:)
DeleteHow fantastic, all that fresh air! So glad to hear you had a great holiday in a familiar place with so many beautiful places to see. It's always a treat to go back to a place that holds good memories, 😊
ReplyDeleteFresh air and lots of steps meant a good night's sleep, and being in walking distance of places meant we could leave the car for a day or two:)
DeleteA few days away from familiar surroundings can be so refreshing. Lovely to revisit some of the special places in Wales that you enjoyed visiting before. You were fortunate with the weather as well.
ReplyDeleteAlways the garden and washing to deal with when the holiday is over. Hope you still manage to have a good week.
It was a lovely few days away and although very windy the weather stayed mostly dry whilst we were out and about. We came home to find loads of strawberries and sweet peas, also the badgers had dug up all the sunflowers, I know not why, they were doing so well from seeds on the front of a gardening magazine:)
DeleteJustbtyping those names would floor me! But what beauty everywhere, Rosie. I would so love to visit Wales again.
ReplyDeleteWhen we first visited and I used to blog about it I had to check spellings frequently but know I know them off by heart:)
DeleteLooks like a fun time away and with some awesome photos too. Thanks for sharing, take care and hugs from a cold old Oz.
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely and the photos turned out better than I thought they would, stay warm, take care:)
