Well, the engineer finally came this afternoon and replaced the modem. It suffered damage in the storm on Saturday 21st September. There was a loud crack and a bright light shot across the room where we were sitting with our evening meal. Apparently it happened to neighbours both sides of us one of them lost electricity, the other one modem and internet. Several other neighbours were affected as well. Unfortunately on the next street the roof of a house was set alight. The occupants were unhurt and sought shelter with neighbours. After twice booking an engineer it was third time lucky. The first visit was cancelled because the service provider assumed that because all other homes in our area had been re-connected ours was too. We made a second booking but no one turned up which was annoying as we'd rushed home from a hospital appointment.
Anyway all is now back to normal - I hope.
Here's a photo of one of our garden visitors, he pops by most evenings and is such a delight to see.
So pleased you are up and running again. Very frustrating when you book someone and they don’t turn up. That storm sounds very severe. B x
ReplyDeleteThank you B, it was a bad storm, hadn't experienced one like that for a few years. It's good to be back as the land line, now being digital, wasn't working either, good job we had a mobile with a different service provider:)
DeleteGood to see you back online Rosie - what a palaver over the engineer appointments :( Organisations seem useless these days - we have had problems with getting the boiler serviced in Herefordshire. Super photo of the fox :)
ReplyDeleteThank you RR, I was having treatment at the hospital in the morning and was running a bit late as I had to collect medication as well. We got home for ten to twelve, we'd been given a time of between twelve and four and no one came. On Tuesday the engineer came half an hour early which was good and all done very quickly. I read about your boiler problems - I hope things are sorted soon:)
DeleteWhat a beautiful photo of the fox. Glad your computer/internet woes are fixed now.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorrie, we call him cheeky fox as he sits and watches us in the kitchen. He always dashes away through a hole in the hedge if we go anwhere near the back door:)
DeleteI'm sorry to hear about the storm and the inconvenience of the computer situation. I hope there's an improvement regarding your health. The photo of the fox is wonderful. I'm sure the foxes are very entertaining when they come for a visit into your garden area.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, glad all is sorted now. The medication I'm taking seems to be working, luckily PV is a rare, slow moving blood cancer that can be managed with mild chemo tablets. I love the fox visitors, we have two regular ones, plus a couple of badgers too, I love to see those but they are far more destructive in the garden than the foxes:)
DeleteGoodness, how dramatic and what a nuisance too. Your poor neighbour must have had a real fright. Glad all is well now and you can settle down and enjoy your garden visitors. 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you CK, it seemed ages for all to be put right again but in fact only eleven days. Garden visitors are a joy at the moment. Loads of starlings this morning:)
DeleteThat was a nasty storm. I am glad that you are all Ok and also that the new modem has sorted the internet issue for you. I feel sorry for the family whose roof caught fire. It must have been scary. I hope that gets sorted quickly for them. Lovely portrait of your foxy visitor.
ReplyDeleteThank you Beverley. When we passed the house recently the roof was being mended. I think it was an elderly couple who were able to seek shelter with family. It's good to have the modem back as now the land line is digital that was out of order too:)
