So let's follow the pumpkin from the field where it is picked and taken to storage perhaps and then to a distribition centre; most of the pumpkins will end up in our supermarkets. Some, like the one below will end up at a farm shop, I'm guessing that these ones came straight from field to shop but I could be wrong.
Well, let's purchase the pumpkin and take it home and see what we can do with it. Last year I made 'Spooky Soup' with the flesh of the pumpkin whilst Paul hollowed out the pumpkin to make a 'scary' face . I expect we will do much the same this year.
So, tea lights in the pumpkin face, warming soup ready and a huge bowl of lollipops for the little trick or treaters.
The field of Pumpkins is a wonderful sight. I grew a few pumpkins in my garden quite successfully a few years ago. Your Pumpkin soup looks really tasty. I made a pumpkin pie. It really is a versatile vegetable isn't it?
ReplyDeleteOhh that looks fabulous, just right for the freezing weather we are having.

Great Pumpkin...thats so much fun and I am going to make the spooky soup one day..
ReplyDeleteA few days ago,I had a gorgeous spiced up pumpkin soup,(with a chunk of crusty bread!)
ReplyDeleteI went out for coffee...but the soup on offer was so tempting! Perfect for a cold day. ;-)
A lovely heartwarming post.
ReplyDeleteI share your anger at the comments overheard in the supermarket. I lost my sister to MS, it is a cruel disease which takes bravery and courage to live with, words fail me at such intolerance.
I've never seen a whole field of pumpkins! So pretty, aren't they??
ReplyDeleteThat is like the most perfectly round pumpkin! I am going to have to go to a pumpkin patch some day I just go to the store and that I see is just NOT the thing!
ReplyDeleteThings have changed so much since I left England that I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see a field of pumpkins there! While it's a common sight around here, I truly never thought I'd see pumpkins growing in the U.K.! Things are so global now... seems like all the countries are beginning to adopt each others customs and ways of doing business. We haven't had any snow yet.... a couple of hard frosts (YAY!!)... but still hoping!
ReplyDeleteThe soup looks lovely. I haven't made pumpkin soup before, maybe next year. Perhaps I'll try growing some as well. I haven't seen a pumpkin field either, looks colourful.

No fair showing the soup without the recipe. I have never had pumpkin soup and not really a soup fan but it looks good.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your comments:) Welcome jeanneg - there is a link to the recipe within the text 'Spooky Soup':)
