I love this British custom!Have a lovely weekend :)
I saw that it was Feed the Birds Day last night on Autumnwatch. I have fat, mixed seed and nyger seed out, must get some mealworms too. I've more or less given up on nuts as my birds appear not to like them much for some reason - only the squirrels go for them and I don't want to encourage them. I have to have all my feeders caged as it is!
Thanks for the reminder Rosie. The trouble is that having Gizmo keeps a lot of the birds away! I need to replenish my bird food stock. I do enjoy watching them through the windows in the winter time.
We got the feeders last year, hmmm...we've got pigeons near by and the pesky things kept going for them. Not a pigeon fan LOL
Wonderful tradition. Everyday is feed the birds day here. Honestly, if the big, blue, glass feeder at the window by my desk is ever empty, the blue jays sit on the windowsill and squawk at me. Rather charming, actually.
I discovered a baby rat had taken a liking to the bird seed in one of my feeders!! I have to say its put me off a little! It was amusing to watch it run along the branch of the apple tree to get at it though - but rats are the one thing I cannot stand. xxx
I did send the little birds in my garden an invitation...breakfast is served every morning at 9..:)
Yes, I knew it was Feed The Birds Day, although like you I feed them all year round. Knowing this fact though, I did top up the fatball feeders. I noticed first thing this morning, the big fat woodpigeon had manouvered itself onto the birdtable, and was making a very good job of pecking up all that was there! x
How I miss the sight of the sweet little English Robin ~ the North American Robin looks like it has been on steroids!Thank you for your good wishes over at my blog. I'm still waiting for my exam results.
Hi Rosie :)You have a delightful yard. What beautiful trees and flowers cover every nook I can see. The birds sure are lucky to have you for a neighbor. You feed them very well with all of the feeders you have.Have a great day... be well, be happy :)
So nice to see someone else caring for the birdies. I feed the birds every day before I go to work. I give them sunflower seeds and peanuts. I have had to ration them a bit lately because its been costing me a damn fortune!! Fortunately we dont get squirrels but the birds can empty a feeder in less than a day!
