In the garden Spring is in the air.
The Amelanchier just outside the conservatory window was full of blossom, although the winds of the last few days have started to blow petals all over the plants below. They drift around like little snowflakes.
Our night time visitors are still around. Arriving at dusk, they are easily spotted. I love the way they feel safe enough to sit for a while before moving on.
Earlier in the week we visited the Derbyshire town of Belper. We were there to catch up with two of my relatives, who both live in the town. One, who is now a sprightly 89, is the daughter of my grandmother's youngest brother. The other is the granddaughter of my grandmother's sister. We exchanged family news and had a lovely meal at a place called Denby Lodge, in the pottery village of Denby.
We visited Hem Heath Woods again to see if the bluebells were in flower. They were, although some paths had been closed to stop people and dogs trampling on the delicate blooms.
Your garden is looking lovely Rosie Amelanchier and Bridal Wreath are flowering here too. The duck trail looks good fun. The walk through the bluebell wood looks super. We found some bluebells in flower locally last week. I think your white flower is Greater Stitchwort. It is lovely to see the badgers are still visiting - you are so fortunate :) A cute photo of the mallard ducklings :) Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Caroline. I love those two flowering at this time of year they seem to brighten the still dull from winter garden. Thank you for the identification of the Great Stitchwort, the little flowers were so pretty . I still can't get my head around the fact that I lived in a small rural village growing up and never saw a live badger, only ever stuffed in Museums or run over on the roadside. Now living on the edges of the city I see them often it is a joy to see them and the foxes. Hope you too have a good weekend:)
DeleteGorgeous photographs of the bluebells, but to see the visiting wildlife is just amazing. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Jules, the bluebells were gorgeous and we are so lucky to have the visiting wildlife:)
DeleteBluebells, ducklings, badgers, and foxes - so many lovely things going on near you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorrie, all of a sudden it's Spring:)
DeleteI've always heard that badgers were very dangerous. Aren't you afraid to go outside when they might be around. Love your photos, you brave girl.

DeleteThank you Connie, the Badgers are quite safe and not a danger at all. We do photograph them through the conservatory windows not because they are a danger to us, if we go outside they run away off the garden, both badgers and foxes are very wary of humans:)
Very springlike in your corner. I love all the ducks:) B x
ReplyDeleteThank you B, I love to see all the ducklings running around and following Mum wherever she leads them:)
DeleteIt's all happening now the weather has warmed up, isn't it glorious! Flowers and cute animals everywhere! Even colourful ducks with badgers, collecting everything together for everyone that doesn't want to walk! 😊
ReplyDeleteHa, thank you CK, yes everything on one duck! There are lots of lovely things to enjoy at the moment:)
DeleteYour walks are always such a treat to read about, Rosie. The bluebells are just a gorgeous sight! I glimpsed some in Ohio but my husband, always in a hurry, didn't stop. Wish I had some in my gardens .
ReplyDeleteThank you Granny Sue, the bluebells were wonderful spread across the woodland floor:)
