The weather has changed over the last week and felt quite Spring like on a couple of days, although it's colder and duller today and there was a misty haze this morning. I don't think we are out of the woods yet but winter is loosening its grip.
On the Brampton in Newcastle-under-Lyme the Crocus are in flower all along the paths, so delicate and fragile. Some had been trampled, possibly by squirrels or perhaps dogs taken off leads.
Meanwhile at Trentham Spring has also sprung. Snowdrops are going over but are replaced by another carpet of white.
Wood Anemones also known as windflowers. They are well advanced the ones in our garden haven't appeared yet.
They are one of my all time favourite flowers.
Hellebores are still flowering alongside the primulas.
Above Pussy Willow catkins.
Last but not least - daffodils. They are out now in gardens and along verges.
Always a welcome sight.
Wonderful, just what we needed. It is quite cold and dull today but I've had a bumper crop of birds to listen to. 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you CK. The wood pigeons were calling quite early this morning. When I went into the garden a couple of hours ago a Robin sang to me for quite a while, the Dunnocks chirrup too. It's lovely to hear them:)
DeleteLovely to see all the Spring flowers Rosie. I love Wood Anemones too - we have a clump in our garden. I ought to go and see if they are flowering yet but it is probably a little early. We also have some Wood Sorrel and I have no idea where they came from!
ReplyDeleteThank you Caroline, I hope your Wood Anemones appear soon, keeping my fingers crossed for ours as the Wild Garlic has spread to where they were planted. Wood Sorrel is very pretty too, such delicate flowers:)
DeleteGreat news about your Wild Garlic - I would love some of that in our garden.
DeleteBeautiful! We're just beginning to see blossom on the trees here. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Jules, we are coming up to blossom time, always so beautiful:)
DeleteSuch a beautiful sight to see flowers appearing. Your climate is much the same as ours with the very same flowers blooming here now.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorrie, the next few weeks will be full of delightful Spring flowers to be enjoyed:)
