I've been looking for small things to bring colour and cheer to these dull, grey and damp days. In the garden things are happening.
Winter Aconite
Snowdrop buds
There's always a robin to say hello.
Baking. We bought lemons to put with honey to sooth coughs. I made a blueberry and lemon tray bake. It's in a pot dish as we didn't have a big enough tin. Half has been frozen. I saw the recipe in a free magazine from the supermarket. I also made a lemon cake from the Cranks recipe book. Both very tasty.
Post box topper in the supermarket. The little creatures look as if they are off on holiday.
We popped into the Brampton Museum to have a cup of coffee and a look at the latest exhibition.
You will notice that there are some empty frames. This is because they are ready and waiting for their works of art to be displayed. Local artist Rob Pointon -link- is making a painting each day of January.
We will make a return visit to see what he has produced over the last few days. There is also an area for works done by local artists who come to join him on Saturdays to sit and paint around the Brampton no matter the weather.
It's a great idea.
Lovely to see the winter aconites and snowdrops waking up in your garden Rosie. The blueberry and lemon traybake looks really delicious and I did like the postbox topper in the supermarket. I hope you enjoy your next visit to Brampton Museum to view more of the paintings. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you Caroline, I thought the winter aconite was lost but it's still there with the snowdrops. The traybake cake was lovely but quite sweet and filling. We may pop to the Museum next week to catch up on what is happening. You too take care:)

DeleteLittle things like emerging flowers and little birds can be so cheering in the midst of winter. The Blueberry and Lemon Cake sounds delicious. The painting exhibition sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorrie, it was wonderful to clear away the brown leaves and find the snowdrops and winter aconite peeping through. We are going to visit the museum again to see what paintings have been added over the last week:)

DeleteIt has been a bit miserable lately, looking for small colourful things is a great idea. I've got my coloured wool out again! I like the idea of a painting a day, he must be very accomplished to dash them out so quickly, maybe the last one will be a couple of lines and a dot! I look forward to seeing how he gets on next time you visit. 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you CK, we've had several damp, grey days so colour is much needed. Each empty frame had a date in it, the dates went up to 28th January so there are three days without a frame, I wonder what will happen then?:)
