Not much to report really, it's a cold, wet and miserable day. Thank goodness I took the photo below yesterday when there was an hour or two of sunshine in the afternoon.
The leaves that had been clinging desperately to its branches are falling off the Tulip Tree quite quickly now, blowing here and there across the garden.
Tonight we will place a tea light in the pumpkin and settle down. Last night there were fireworks cracking and fizzing long into the night causing dogs to bark around the Crescent, there will most likely be more this evening. I worry for cats and dogs and the foxes and badgers at this time of year. Squirrels and hedgehogs too.
I expect this will be the second year without 'trick or treat' knocks at the door not only because of the ongoing presence of the virus but also because of the stormy weather. The wind is strong, plant pots, wheelie bins and a water butt have blown across the garden and even more of those leaves have said farewell to the tree.
Same weather here too. Love the leaves from your tulip tree. Definitely a day to stay cosy by the fire. B x
ReplyDeleteThe leaves are wonderful, I love raking them up - in better weather of course. Definitely a day for staying in:)
DeleteLovely shots. We've had overcast all day, but we're due for clearing skies in the night.
ReplyDeleteThank you William, very windy here, I must admit I'm not fond of it:)
DeleteThe weather doesn't seem to have been as bad here thankfully. I love your tulip tree, creating a wonderful display whatever the season. Your pumpkin looks great too. 😊
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkin was quite small but a great shape for carving. Glad your weather isn't too bad at the moment. Hard to think that when we first came here to live we bought the tulip tree and easily put it in the back of the car to bring home:)
DeleteLovely photos of your garden and the pumpkin. Our Whitebeam has lost its leaves but the acer is looking good. We've had fireworks here for weeks even as late as 1.00 am :( As you say you worry about the wildlife and pets. I sometimes think they should ban the sale of them to private individuals just to stop these displays that seem to go on all year round :( Take care too.
ReplyDeleteThank you RR. Last weekend there was a huge fireworks party of some kind going on untill after midnight. I agree just to have them for special events by registered organisers and on Bonfire Night, 5th November only. Possibly New Year's Eve too. At least pets could be kept in and calmed even if the wildlife can't but it wouldn't be quite so often:)
DeleteLove your leafy shots. We got a couple of trick or treaters, luckily I had bought some sweets just in case. Rather a lot left though! No fireworks as yet here. Very fortunate that both my pets ( cat and dog) don't seem to bothered by them, as long as they are safe inside. X
ReplyDeleteThank you shazza. We heard trick or treaters around and about but they only seemed to go to a few houses and then disappeared as the weather was so bad. Glad your pets aren't bothered by the fireworks, our last two cats didn't like them when they were younger but as they got older they didn't seem to mind, I think they both went deaf in the end so just used to sit and watch them from the upstairs window:)
DeleteThe weather was not kind for Halloween although probably quite fitting! I love to see the autumn leaves :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Pam, I love walks through crunchy, fallen leaves:)
DeleteI like your carved pumpkin Rosie but I like the hares behind it even more! x
ReplyDeleteThank you Simone, I love the hares, they sit on top of Paul's fossil cabinet. Hope you are well. Have a lovely weekend:)
