We'd booked tickets to visit the Peak Wildlife Park on Wednesday. It was warm, very warm, possibly too warm but we ventured out, takng a small picnic with us. The ducks around the picnic tables were ever hopeful of treats, nibbling at our feet and gently tapping our legs with their beaks. Butterflies and dragonflies flittered over the nearby ponds and thankfully there were no wasps to worry about whilst we ate our food.
Of course, the birds and animals were either sheltering or making the most of the sunshine. Below are photos of some of those we saw.
Looks like a lovely visit.I have just seen one of those dragonflies in my daughters lounge. Not the usual kind.
ReplyDeleteThank you Barbara, I wish I was better at identifying drangonflies. I love to see them:)
DeleteIt sounds a lovely day out and I really enjoyed your photos. Meerkats are always so incredibly cute and I love the Red Squirrels and Otters. It was hot on Wednesday as you say perhaps a bit too warm! Have a lovely weekend and take care too.
ReplyDeleteThank you RR, the Meerkats are such fun and the Otters too. I love the red squirrels and you can now walk in amongst them. They are part of a breeding and re-introduction programme in areas across the country. Take care:)
DeleteWhat a lovely day, something quite different to the norm too. Good to see the animals were having just as much fun as you. 😊
ReplyDeleteIt was a lovely day and good to be somewhere a bit different. We'd gone to see the red squirrel in their new habitat:)
DeleteI envy that snoozing meerkat.
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed. I was worried at first but then it did move:)
DeleteLovely Rosie & I've not been to a wildlife park or zoo now for many years & I'd love to visit "anywhere" at the moment. I enjoyed seeing the photos & did notice one of ours too. Thanks for sharing, take care & hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan, glad you enjoyed the photos. Yes, one of yours, there were lots of wallabies in their own large area. They have notices which say 'Wallabies on grass, humans on paths' but they are very close:)
DeleteI'm sure that would have been an enjoyable visit. You were lucky to find the animals so active on a warm day. The first dragonfly looks like a Ruddy Darter to me.
ReplyDeleteThank you John, I love the name Ruddy Darter:)
DeleteI love watching Meerkats but think that Otters have the most adorable faces! I bet it was nice to go somewhere different for the day. x
ReplyDeleteThank you Simone, the Otters were wondeful. They weren't there when we first passed their compound and just thought we would look in on the way back, the keeper was putting out branches for bedding and suddenly they were all out to grab their share:)
DeleteWhat a lovely place to visit. I absolutely love meerkats and lemurs. The expressions they have are so comic. Much too hot for me last week. I’m glad of a little cooler temperatures. Have a good Sunday. B x
ReplyDeleteThank you Barbara, yes it was a tad too hot! It's more comfortable today. I love the meerkats, they are so funny and the lemurs will inspect you as you walk around. On a previous visit they inspected Paul's camera bag:)
DeleteIt looks like a lovely visit despite the heat! The Meerkats are fun to watch aren't they!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pam, it was a lovely day. The Meerkats were great fun to watch and the squirrels and otters too:)
DeleteHa! Those meerkats are a scream! Fancy it being so hot for your visit at this time of the year but it looks like you had a great day out with plenty of animals to see. I don't think it's been so hot down here just nice and cosy. 😊
ReplyDeleteThis was the week before last so it was still quite warm, although it has been warm here over the last couple of days. Just realised I haven't written a post for nearly two weeks, I must get writing, perhaps tomorrow:)
