Photo Scavenger Hunt - May

May has been such a lovely month with blooms in the garden and burgeoning growth in the fields and hedgerows, birds nesting, baby birds in the garden and the dawn chorus in the bright early mornings.  Once again it's time to join in  with the Photo Scavenger Hunt kindly organised by greenthumb at Made with Love  just click on the link to find other participants.

Blue

Blue ceanothus flowering against a stone wall at Bridgemere Garden World

Crystal
Pieces of Amethyst and Rose Quartz

Vintage

An old advertising board at Consall Railway Station on the Churnet Valley Steam Railway.

Fluff

A few strands of fluff or sheeps wool caught in an old bit of tree

Global

Nearest I could get to Global on my travels glowing globe balls on sale at the book shop and cafe at Hassop Station on the High Peak trail.

Mask
Small decorative masks at Bridgemere Garden World

Bus

Three routemaster London buses on a card I bought recently for a friend's birthday.  He comes from London, loves buses and often writes about them on his blog and for his local paper.

Frame

A window framed by solid stone walls at Peveril Castle, Castleton, Derbyshire

Collection

Refuse collection day.  Recycling week, brown bins for garden waste and blue bins for plastics, cardboard and glass.  The refuse collection lorries passed each other at the bottom of the street.

Poster

An old railway poster at the station at Consall on the Churnet Valley Railway.

Ribbon

More ribbon than you can shake a stick at - rows and rows of pretty, shiny, colourful ribbon at Hobbycraft, Bridgemere Garden World.

Whatever you Want

I was playing with the panorama setting on my camera at Peveril Castle so you can see in the distance, from left to right according to the map at the castle, Mam Tor, Grinslow Knoll, Hollins Cross, Back Tor and Lose Hill - I think, I may be wrong of course.  Please correct me if I am.

    1. I think I was lucky to see several of the topics quite early on so didn't feel it was hard - but then I have plenty of free time to do that now I'm retired:)

    1. Thanks, Simone - I just happened to have my camera with me when I saw those Glow Balls in the shop - the crystals are on my mantlepiece. I remember catching a bus at Euston and travelling to Greenwich it took ages but I loved every minute of the journey and saw some wonderful things - don't know if it was a routemaster though it was certainly a red London bus:)

  6. Well done, you got some brilliant ones! Collection was pArticularly effective, the bright bins and truck in stark contrast to the more natural shades. Globe is very good and I like your crystals. I also went with amethyst but not uploaded all of mine yet, still trying to find ribbon!!!!x

  8. A great set of photos. I've never been up into Peveril Castle although visited Castleton many times so it was interesting to see the window and the view from the hill. I nearly went there for Oak Apple Day this last week to find maypole ribbons, but didn't in the end!

    1. Oh, yes of course Castleton have a special event on Oak Apple Day don't they? I've only ever seen the display in the visitor centre there., It is a long walk up to the castle from the entrance but the views from there are stunning:)

  9. Some great photos but my favourite is the one of the window at Peveril Castle - you must have climbed up the tower for that:)

  16. Thank you John and thanks for your kind comment. I often seem to have a colour theme without reaslising it it sometimes. I originally took the Colman's advert for blue but thought it made a better vintage one:)

  18. Well done, Rosie! What a great collection of photos! The photo of the castle window for framed slammed me: what grim places castles must have been, although reassuring for the people who lived behind those stout walls. I'm so glad that I was born today! The blue ceanothus is magnificent, and I love the vibrant primary colors in the old advertising board. Great find for global! Happy hunting in June!

    1. I bet the castle was grim inside - it is open to the elements now and home to wildlife, vegetation and nesting birds. As you say the people who lived there would have felt safe from maurauders with those thick walls. Glad you enjoyed the photos and happy hunting in June to you too:)

  21. I'm just wondering what the staff at Hassop Station thought about you photographing the globes! hahaha. And I'm also wondering if I can take panarama's with my camera? Great selection of eclectic items as per usual Rosie - I especially loved the way your mind interpreted "collection" . xxxx

    1. Ha - there wasn't a member of staff in sight when I took them. I have a setting on my camera that sets it up for you it is on the top with the film and macro and etc - you just move your camera across the view until you see the x move into its slot and the picture takes itself - I'd photographed a collection of fossils and a collection of post cards before I clicked with that one:)xxxx
