Shadows and Reflections

This morning the sun shone as we walked

It was a morning of great beauty

A morning of infinite possibilities

Just the kind of morning for which I'd been waiting

for what seems like ages and ages

I found myself drawn to photographing reflections and shadows as we walked.

Reflections in the water of the Caldon Canal

as we walked along the towpath near Consall Station

The glimmer of the sun in the water gave the reflections a look of ephemeral fragility

Whilst the shadows, in comparison, were strong and long

I wish I could capture and bottle the feeling of mornings like these so that I could un-stopper and release them, like racing pigeons from their lofts or doves from their dovecotes. to cast brightness over the dismal grey mornings that may be lurking just around the corner before Spring is finally here.

  2. Oh yes, it has been lovely to see the sun and wish we could bottle it too!
I fear winter has not finished with us yet though!

  3. Yes, lovely day here too - and "red sky at night, shepherds delight", hopefully lovely tomorrow too. The light makes such a difference, doesn't it? Lifts your spirits so much. Have a good week x

  4. It's funny, I was just thinking about this stretch of the canal earlier... Dave's dad is staying nearby for a few days and he's requested that we plan a local walk for tomorrow - this is one place I thought about!

Your photos are beautiful and it has been really lovely to have a sunny weekend. We couldn't walk today as Dave was working at home, on call, 7-7 but it did give me chance to catch up on some jobs at home.
