Willow Wildlife Trail

For half term at Trentham Gardens there is a new Willow Wildlife trail on the East Lakeside path.  All are creatures found in and around the gardens and wider estate.

Each willow woven sculpture has an information panel about the animal or insect depicted.  There are also willow weaving sessions in the education tipi at certain times.

Deer

Butterfly

Beaver

Mole

Rabbit

Otter

Bee

Owl

It was actually Valentines Day when we visited and there were lots of signs dotted around the shopping village.  I've made a collage out of a few of them.

It was my next door neighbour's funeral yesterday.  In a small chapel we were met by the celebrant a gentle voiced Scot with pretty pink hair.  The coffin arrived to The Rose by Bette Midler and left to Always Look on the Bright side of Life by the Monty Python team.  So very typical, she will be missed.

Today the wind howls around the house, the wheelie bins have been overturned and the rain has never stopped.  I hope tomorrow is better as we both yearn to get out for a long walk.

Have a good weekend.

It sounds like your neighbour had a beautiful send off. These thing are never easy, but they mean so much more when they are personal to the individual. Xx

  4. Super willow structures- I love them! and the signs for Valentine's Day are good too :) I am so sorry about your friend and neighbour but it sounds like a beautiful send off. We used a celebrant for mum's funeral and he was very good. Hope the weather is dry for you this weekend so you can get out and have a good walk. Have a good weekend.

    1. Thank you Caroline, I love the mole sculpture and thought of your oomptitoomps (sp?) of which there are many about this year, the signs were fun too. The celebrant was lovely but I did struggle to hear her soft voice. We did get out for a walk which I'll write about later today:)

  5. Aren't the willow sculptures great! They must have taken ages to make and someone will probably have sire hands from all the bending and securing. You'll have to have a go! I'm glad the funeral went well, it sounds like a lovely celebration of her life. The weather in your neck of the woods sounds awful, it hasn't been as rainy here. Fingers crossed it's better next week. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm glad the funeral gave people a chance to celebrate your neighbours life in the way she would have wanted.

    1. Thank you Beverley, the butterfly looks good against the boat shed and the deer has a grand view over the lake. Our neighbour's brother and sister-in-law carried out her wishes and her other sister in Australia was able to watch:)
