My Mum had a Holly Hobby plate and print on the wall of the hallway near the back door also one of those big eyed moppet prints. I do remember Helen Allingham's rural scenes of cottages on biscuit tins:)Rosiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04733563829902335223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11621908.post-89125710839487816342016-12-04T13:47:09.790+00:002016-12-04T13:47:09.790+00:00Glad you enjoyed the post, Simone. I remember the Bubbles boy by John Everett Millais used for Pears Soap ads and I'm sure we had him on a biscuit tin at some point:)Rosiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04733563829902335223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11621908.post-57639591916588681462016-12-04T11:38:07.291+00:002016-12-04T11:38:07.291+00:00What nice memories - the first reminded me of my s...What nice memories - the first reminded me of my school days, when we also had a wendy house in our classroom. The only surviving photo of that time is one of me playing in the wendy house with a friend called Susan. I don't remember what pictures hung on the walls though. And there was one by Mabel Lucy Atwell in the bathroom with a rhyme which went 'Please remember, don't forget, never leave the bathroom wet'- fancy me remembering that after so many years :) Hardly great art is it.elaine https://www.blogger.com/profile/17075935631756457901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11621908.post-63802456345989079432016-12-03T17:57:40.496+00:002016-12-03T17:57:40.496+00:00Isn't it funny how paintings evoke different m...Isn't it funny how paintings evoke different memories! When I was a child, at the top of our landing was a huge beach painting that my dad did of a Spanish holiday resort. Do you remember the print of the crying boy that people used to have that was said to be unlucky? I really enjoyed this post Rosie. It has taken me back to remembering paintings that have been a part of my life. xSimonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02766240849932971541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11621908.post-92056218562347542112016-12-03T15:01:18.685+00:002016-12-03T15:01:18.685+00:00Thanks, Karen I'm glad you liked the post, I w...Thanks, Karen I'm glad you liked the post, I was wondering what to do for Paint Monthy when it all fell into place:)Rosiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04733563829902335223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11621908.post-91285171328060203052016-12-03T15:00:14.758+00:002016-12-03T15:00:14.758+00:00Thank you, funny how certain images can invoke so ...Thank you, funny how certain images can invoke so many memories:)Rosiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04733563829902335223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11621908.post-24472774631623963712016-12-03T14:59:40.984+00:002016-12-03T14:59:40.984+00:00Thank you Amy, glad you enjoyed the post:)Thank you Amy, glad you enjoyed the post:)Rosiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04733563829902335223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11621908.post-29664764644128017192016-12-03T14:59:13.798+00:002016-12-03T14:59:13.798+00:00He is a jolly character isn't he? It never ceases to amaze me how the sight of something like a painting, or the sight of a flower or a whiff of a scent can bring back childhood memories. Whenever I smell fresh tomatoes on a plant I remember my grandfather's greenhouse and the food he grew in there :) A print of that first painting adorned one of the corridors in my old grammar school and glad to see someone else remembers frost on the inside of the bedroom windows - I loved the "flowers" they formed! :)Ragged Robinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14090463834740346114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11621908.post-16348569319633488542016-12-02T09:42:19.880+00:002016-12-02T09:42:19.880+00:00Oh what a lovely post Rosie. I'm sure if I think hard there would be several more paintings like that from my childhood. Thanks for linking this month.
