We've been away for a few days. The weather wasn't as bad as we thought it might be.
Wales always delights. Below, a few of the things we saw and places we visited.
Bodnant Gardens near Conwy.
Llandudno - too cold and windy to walk any further along the Promenade or pier that day so we retreated into bookshops and art galleries.
Mostyn Gallery, Llandudno
Conwy Castle taken from a bird hide at the RSPB nature reserve near Conwy later the same afternoon it was warm enough to sit outside with an ice cream.
No one knew what film it was only that it was something similar to Game of Thrones or perhaps about dragons. Cranes were hoisting equipment into place as we looked around.
Above and below the kitchen at Plas Mawr house in Conwy
I'm always drawn to the kitchens in historic houses.
Below beautiful painted windows designed by Alf Fisher MBE in the small but fascinating museum in Corwen.
Puppets in the Corwen museum created by local people and children to tell the story of national hero Owain Glyndwr.
All for now. I'll be back next week with more on Bodnant Gardens and Plas Mawr house.
Looks like you had a wonderful week despite the weather. I loved Conwy when we visited a few years ago now. B x
ReplyDeleteThank you B, it was a lovely break. Always love visiting Conwy both the town and the RSPB reserve:)
DeleteWhat a fantastic holiday, I'd loved to have come along! So many photos to like, it's difficult to pick a favourite. I remember the laburnum at Bodnant from 40 years ago, the windows are very pretty and who can resist a heritage kitchen, in truth though I love them all. 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you CK, the Laburnum arch was looking good but I expect it is looking spectacular this week. The windows in the museum were all lovely. I love Plas Mawr especially the kitchens and table settings. Glad you enjoyed the photos:)
DeleteIt looks like you had a lovely few days away even if it was cold. The Alice in Wonderland Trail is such a lovely idea. Bodnant Gardens look wonderful especially the laburnum arch. I love the window in the museum. We visited Conwy castle a few years ago on our journey home from Anglesey - it is a wonderful castle. The family visited Plas Mawr but I missed it as I decided to have a look round the church instead. I look forward to seeing more of Bodnant Gardens and Plas Mawr.
ReplyDeleteThank you Caroline, we saw part of the Alice in Wonderland trail last time we visit Llandudno but hadn't found Alice or the White Rabbit which we did this time. Conwy Castle is wonderful isn't it? We cut through the churchyard and past the church and out on the street opposite Plas Mawr. I wondered what it was like inside, perhaps next visit if it is open:)
DeleteWe've walked through that laburnum arch, it is gorgeous isn't it. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Gill, yes it is a wonderful sight. The rest of the gardens were looking good too with all the Rhododendrons and Azaleas in flower:)
DeleteThis was fun! I've actually visited Wales twice and loved both Bodnant Gardens and Castle Conwy. Your photos brought back such fun memories. Glad you had a nice holiday!

Thank you Amalia, I'm so glad I brought back some happy memories of your previous visits:)
DeleteLooks like a lovely little getaway despite the weather. Bookshops and art galleries are good options for those inclement days. Conwy Castle is full of interesting things, would love to visit one day. I've only been to Wales once and loved what we did see. Like you, I'm attracted to kitchens of the past, as well. We certainly have many modern conveniences that make life easier.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorrie. I'm always drawn to book shops, galleries and museums especially when the weather isn't so good. Both castle and house were wonderful to visit as we hadn't been to either for quite a long time:)
DeleteIt looks like you had a good time in Wales even if the weather was not always the best. I really liked seeing the puppets, telling the story of a national hero fom the past. My favourite room in any historical building is the kitchen as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Beverley, the puppets were fascinating. I did take a photo of the large statue of Owain Glyndwr in the town centre but it didn't turn out so well. Always love the kitchens in these places also the types of cooking implements that were used:)
DeleteSo very beautiful there, Rosie. I so wish I could see Wales again.
ReplyDeleteThank you Granny Sue, yes, Wales is a beautiful country and it draws visitors back there:)
